Yes, I have to agree with you. I don't think that at his age the risk is worth it. And really, what's he getting out of racing now anyway? He's already rich, he doesn't need to prove himself to anyone. He should stand aside and let his daughters take the limelight now. He's a bit of an egomaniac though (or maybe just a maniac) so I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

He`s Only 56 Years Young, Age Has Never Been A Factor In Drag Racing, Look At "The Golden Greek" Hes 70+ And Still Driving, Eddie Hill Was Pushing 70 When He Retired.
As Far As Spending Time With His Family, He`ll Always Be Right There With them Whether He`s Racing Or Standing On The Starting Line. Team Force Is A Racing Business. He`s Enjoying Life As It Is.
He Won`t Let This Accident Scare Him Into Retiring. He`s Already Said He`ll Try To Be Back For The Last Two Events.

Get Well John Force!

I dont think he is too old, i just think he has way to much on his hands. John is dealing with his daughter racing, running his own race team and ofcourse the safety concerns that have arisen after the death of Eric. I hope he doesnt retire because he has been great for the sport, but like you i wouldnt hold it against him if he did. He was a true legend. I hate to to make the Force/Earnhardt Sr comparision. But both have companies and both have kids getting into the sport and both had terrible accidents. Hopefully this is a wake up to John.

Force is still very competitive so what it really comes down to is the amount of passion he still has for the sport. If he still has a strong desire to compete, and can still contend for wins and championships then I'm all for his continuing his career.

As for his family, of course they know the dangers involved, but that doesnt mean they arent gonna be upset when accidents occur. Look at Ashley's wreck earlier in the year. John knows better than anyone how the machines can get away from you, but he had a panic attack after Ashley's crash in WA. And he's not gonna prevent her from racing because its what she wants to do. All these drivers know the dangers they face, but its their passion for racing that overcomes that. Thats how they are enjoying their lives.

He races because its what he loves to do. He is competitive still. He seems like a very hyper person always running around and talks super fast. My guess is that he would be bored and probably not so happy if he retired.

You R only as old as you feel. If he thinks he's too old I think he has the sense to quit. Yeah, it hurts worse to crash when you're older, takes longer to heal, but if your reaction time is good and you still get the thrill -- KEEP ON RACIN'!!!
