Jesus IS God. He is the second person of the Holy Trinity.
When we define the Trinity, we are talking about the nature of God - three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each are separate, distinct individuals, each fully God, but all three are the SAME God. This is why we worship ONE God in three divine persons. Therefore, it is completely correct to worship Jesus. There are many examples in the bible where Jesus was worshiped.
God bless.

No, because Jesus IS God, not "A god".
There are certain organizations that state that Jesus is a "lesser god"
Jn 1:1 states, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.", but they change it from "the Word was God" to "the Word was a God."
There is no definite article "a" before "God".
In fact Jesus said, "You believe in God, now believe in me", and He received worship from Thomas (the doubter).
Jesus also said "When you've seen me, you've seen the Father."
So, by worshipping Jesus, you ARE worshipping God.
God bless you in your search for God's Truths as you go about pleasing the Lord.
Additional comment:
If you are having trouble with the concept of the trinity (the tri-une nature of God), think about yourself: There is only ONE of you, but you are a body, a soul, and a spirit, and the body is not the soul, and the spirit is not the body - three entities, yet only ONE of you.
And if you are a WYSIWYG kind of person, then you can say, "When you've seen me, you've seen my soul", because you will only behave in a manner that truly reflects your inner most being.
(Some people can not say that, because they put on false "masks" to cover up what they're really thinking, or how their feeling, or act contrary to their hidden attitude - those kinds of people are NOT WYSIWYG kind of people).
Jesus WAS a WYSIWYG kind of person, and everything He did reflected the Father's heart perfectly.
(WYSIWYG = "What You See Is What You Get")

Well, I can see how you came to that conclusion, but here is your logic error: Jesus is not seperate from God. He is God. As God the Son, He is the same as God, but different. It's kind of a koan.
Besides, Jesus never said "Worship me." He did want people to worship God. At the time He said that, though, some theologians wonder if He knew He was God's begotten Son yet. Interesting thought.

It would be if you could separate the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. However the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one.
I am not sure that you could say that Christians worship Jesus. We sing praise songs to Jesus, but we always understand that we are to pray to the Father in the name of the Son. When we pray we often thank God for His Son that died for our sins, however that again is not true worship of Jesus.
It does not bother me to revere Jesus, although if I were to build an altar, it would be to God and not Jesus. That said, I would be building the altar to God to thank Him for giving us His Son that we may live in the likeness of Christ.

You might be reading the wrong Bible.Jesus IS God. Are you a Christian? You can't be serious with your question can you?
EDIT.....I am constantly amazed by the answers from so called "Christians".Half say Jesus is God.The others say Jesus is not God.Some say they do not worship Jesus .Some say they do.YOU CAN'T EVEN AGREE WHO GOD IS.How can Jesus worship God when he is God ?How do you expect to retain your credibility when preaching to Atheists using the Bible and giving them different answers. No wonder they think you are all stupid. You are leaving yourselves wide open to ridicule. Why don't you get together and find a solution to your inaccuracies?Or maybe you don't want to in case you are proven wrong .(pride)

Jesus is the same being as God the Father, however they are separate persons.
Man is triune: spirit, soul, and body. Imagine if each part of you was given its own life. This is what the Trinity of God is like.
Therefore worshiping any one of them is worshipping the same God.

I once felt how you do now. God knows your heart. He knows your desire is to please Him. Jesus is just as much God as is God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.
Don't let satan take your focus off Jesus. Don't let him slip you some baloney lies. It's a heart condition, express your heart to your Heavenly Father.
The Lord is Father God and the Lord is Jesus (along with the Holy Spirit)
In the Old Testament "Lord" refers to 'Your God' or Father God. In the New Testament "Lord" refers more to Jesus.
Exodus 10:8
Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. "Go, worship the LORD YOUR GOD," he said...
Ephesians 3:11
... according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.
Ephesians 4:5
ONE LORD, one faith, one baptism;
Ephesians 5:19-20
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. SING AND MAKE MUSIC IN YOUR HEART TO THE LORD, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I will say that when you are around non-believers and you say 'I believe in God...' that doesn't mean much. But if you say "I'm following Jesus" then there is no doubt who you serve and who your God is. You might get some crazy looks...or some thumbs down (in my case on here)...but I stand for Jesus because He stands for me!
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love. (Ephesians 6:24)

Jesus is the son of God in the same way that you and I are the children of God. It's not literal. Think back to the time the bible was written. Most people couldn't even read. Stories were created to make things logical. Logical back then is not even CLOSE to the same as logical is now. I mean, they used to bleed people with leeches for a fever! The only thing leeches are good for is severe bruising and internal bleeding! The only people that COULD read were monks and people in power. I think you might agree that religious fanatics and people in power are not the most objective, yes? Anyway, Adam is not the son of God. He is OF God. There's a difference. Adam was created from God's body... which closely resembles paganism and mythology. It's a way of explanation, not literal. I am a child of God, and while God is my "father" my biological father is an earthly man (who was perpetually behind in his child support payments). For Catholics, their priest is called "father." If you study anthropology, thousands of years ago, family relationships were not necessarily dependent upon genetic ties. Stop trying to read the bible literally. Just pay attention to the lessons, examples, etc.
