Is mortal life according to some religious beliefs a prison? Is it punishment for some pre-life transgression? Does early death equal early release? Where did this philosophy come from?

God gives us life to test our soul as to how it will live on earth, will it follow God's way or satan's way etc. If we pass the test early, God ends the test and we don't get to suffer the ups and downs of wordly life. This is good. I wish God had ended my test earlier.
