One person isn't going to make any difference. So why do anything that has no impact?

Other changes just trade one type of pollution for another. Switching to CF light bulbs trade co2 for mercury pollution.

Yea its going well. I changed the lightbulb in my bedroom to an energy efficient one and now the air seems so much cleaner and cooler. The trees are growing back and everyone is happy.
But seriously, it is going ok at the moment as long as all these tree huggers move onto another thing to moan about that wont affect anyone else and we can stop worrying about how much money we will be wasting on tax.

Good news!

The environmental movement is making headway. Have we made a dent? Maybe, but its hard to measure since consumption as a whole continues to grow globally.

As for my own personal triumphs...

Every light in my apartment is a compact fluorescent, all of my appliances are either unplugged or in stand by mode when not in use. My thermostat is a few degrees plus in the summer and a few degrees less in the winter. We recycle, buy green tags to offset our household energy consumption, and terrapasses to offset our automobile carbon. We have given up beef totally and have limited our other meat consumption, we by organics where ever we can.

How is the battle going? For us, quite well, but as far as our community, our country and the world? Well... It's a work in progress.

Have a great weekend!

Yeah, that one pound of CO2 I saved by using energy efficient light bulbs really offsets the 2 or 3 tons of CO2 I emit running the air conditioner in summer and driving to work, and taking the kids to school (6 miles with no bus service) and so on.

NOT!

Has any one looked at the size of our country (GB) on the globe lately. If we all stopped everything right now it would not make the slightest bit of difference. No cooling effect what soever. Yea we should all do our bit but lets not kid ourselves our grand children are doomed!!

I'm trying, lots, yes, no, yes and as for is it working, it's barely making a dent, but everyone needs to do their little bit, it's no effort really, it's the change aspect that people don't like.

If you have to ask it probably doesn't matter to you anyway.
