Not always....

We have our facts too.......as well as our faith.

For instance:
The resurrection of Christ......which was witnessed by over 500 people and well documented.

The Lord God has given us His Holy Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing our salvation. And that same Holy Spirit guides us into the truth....and confirms the evidence in our hearts.

Scripture is the absolute truth regardless of what anyone thinks or feels........the truth of God does NOT change.

Scripture is MORE than a reliable source of our facts.

Isn't faith really just believing things are fact without a science teacher telling you. Faith is knowing that the fact is Jonah was swallowed by a whale, and Jesus walked on water. The more scientist try to discount the bible the more evidence they find any way. So people should have a little faith that the bible is fact, and the world might be a little better off

Not at all - faith is built by fact. Faith is the action you take based on the facts that you have. Faith is not an unfounded belief in an imaginary friend, contrary to popular belief. First we believe because we've been presented with the reality of Jesus Christ. He steps in and reveals Himself to us. He becomes an undeniable fact at that point.

Faith is how we act after the fact is presented. Faith is stepping out and doing what Jesus asked you to do. That takes risk, that's why it's called faith. Your faith is built as you take more of those steps of faith. (Last time I stepped out in faith, God came through, so I'll trust that He'll come through this time) The more times you take that step , the easier it is the next time because of more and more positive results.

You act in faith every time you sit in a chair. You see other people sit in chairs without falling, you've done it yourself before, but you don't know for sure that this particular chair will hold you this time. The act of sitting down is an act of faith. ( a very basic example)

In that respect, but science and religion begin with a step of "faith". Without it, no scientist would ever test a theory or develop a new idea. They have to begin with an unsupported belief about something. Then through test, studies, experiments, experince, etc. they either proof or disproof the the belief.

Religious faith is the same. It begins with a belief that God is there. Then the person begins to live their life pased on that idea (testing the theory so to speak). Over time their prayers, experiences, studies of the scriputres, etc will either prove or disprove their belief.

Science never uses faith. A scientific theory IS proven by definition. Science uses the term theory very different that the rest of the world.

A scientific theory is sort of a container for facts to sit it and they use that theory to make predictions. If the predictions continue to yeild more facts then the theory is good. If it doesn't yeild facts then it's either thrown out or re-worked.

There's no faith involved.

As for your question, I think Christianity and all religions should stay on the faith side of the playground because it thrives much better there. Let science handle facts.

Yes, but I really think you need to learn more about science. They don't deal with things that don't have evidence. Everything is backed by facts that lead to the conclusions produced.

Edit: Primoa, in order for something to be well documented, that would require more than one source to have documented it, and remnants of the story would be found in places not associated with the event in question.

9/11 is well documented. You can find information on that even from any major news publication. Confucious is well documented, we know where and when he was born, the year he died, and the descendents he produced. His philosophies are known the world over, and stories of encounters with him are found in places other than those that worship his philosophies. Cleopatra is well documented. Jesus, not so much.

The only facts about Christianity that can be proved are the tragedies it has unleashed on the human race in the form of war and intolerance.
You obviously do not know the definition of the word 'science'. It bases nothing on faith. It uses only facts.
Look around you at the wonders that science has created. Without science you would be back in the stone age.

Yes. Religion is based on faith.
Science is based on trial and error, test, hypothisis, test, hypothisis, test, etc.. till you come up with a theory. You can never really "prove" a theory in science, it is set up that way so new information and different testing methods can interject into the body of knowledge to refine the theory.
To disprove a theory all you need is one, repeatable, verified, example.

To me, Christianity is about the teachings of Jesus and the wisdom contained in the Bible.

As I'm not a Christian myself, I feel free to pick and choose what I like, learn from the wisdom I find without bothering too much about whether any of it is true.

The scientific stuff (4000 years blah blah blah) I dismiss out of hand. The moral lessons in the parables I pay close attention to.

I agree with you 100%.
The problem is that most people can't distinguish the difference between faith and fact, making what they beleive to be true, whether their belief is supported by fact or not.
