Some precautions for body massage aside from pregnancy may include:

It is important that you drink plenty of water after a massage or body treatment in order to help flush out the toxins that may be released during massage and other Spa body services. Failure to do so may result in Flu-like symptoms.

However, there are a lot of medical conditions that application of heat and cold is contraindicated: Anemia, Tuberculosis, Cancer, skin lesions, hemorrhage, decreased senstaions such as in DM; or Diabetes to name a few.

In addition for heart disease - Heat and cold applications that increase the heart rate and force of contraction are contraindicated in heart disease as it may overwork an already weakened heart.

Moreover, in hypertension - Heat and cold applications that increase the heart rate are contraindicated due to the stress on the heart.

The reason why vigorous massage to the following areas of the scalp and neck is to avoid initiating the valsalva maneuver which would decrease the heart rate.

But full body massage on the whole if done properly has more good benefits than bad; as it's a good tension or stress reliever.

It elevates the blood pressure. I learned this in cosmetology school. Those with high blood pressure should never have a scalp & neck massage either.
