Every time we had a hedgehog in our garden our dog and cats got fleas from them. Always used frontline to prevent fleas on animals.

Yes! Hedgehogs are usually crawling with fleas. My little dog loves to snuffle around hedgehogs and usual ends up with a flea on her nose. Remember it takes just one flea to lay eggs then you have an epidemic! Flea powder would be a good precaution. Don't use Bob Martin stuff, they're bad.

Hedgehog fleas will not live on a dog for long, they are specific to the hedgehog..

They are huge compared to cat/dog fleas so it's easy to tell the difference.

yes, this is why dogs can pick up fleas while walking. If you have not used a preventive flea treatment like frontline or programme you will need to treat dog and bed , carpets to stop them from spreading.

If there are fleas present in your yard, then yes. For your dog to actually get them from another animal, your pet would need contact with the animal. Best bet get Advantage during spring & summer months so you will not have to worry. Forget store products, they are ineffective & messy. Good luck! :O)
