Here are the verses:

"So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin"

My question is this:
Isn't it comforting to know that even the apostle Paul struggled with sin on a daily basis? Obviously, this does NOT give us a license to sin at will.....it simply means that all Christians everywhere go through this daily.

I praise God for His grace.....that I am saved from sin eternally.

In the tabernacle, the first item you see is the Altar of Sacrifice. It is here you obtain forgiveness of sin through the sprinkling of the blood from the sacrificed lamb for atonement.
The next item is the Laver--now wait, didn't we just have all our sins forgiven at the Altar? Yes. Then why the washing? Because the Altar took care of our position in God. We are saved by the blood of the Lamb, but we still have to live in this world. And by treading through this world, we still get dirty. Here is where we wash in the water of God's Word. Still saved, but just a little surface dirt that needs cleaning.
Think of it as adopting a child. Salvation is the adoption process. Once adopted, the child is totally part of the family. Will the child run and play in the mud? Will this child need a bath? Definitely. Does the child need to be re-adopted? Of course not. Just needs a wash.
The same goes with our old life vs. our new life. Once we are born again, the adoption papers are signed and sealed. Yet I will always struggle with sin, but it will not change my position in the family.

Try thinking about three things, and what's best for all;
Not just two things, and what's good or better for some.
Two dimensional thinking is as flat world thinkers of old.

The POINT beng made in Rom 7 is that "another law" (the second "law" in Mt 22:36-40 and Rom 8:2) produces "evil concupiscence" (an evil desire to do the very thing forbidden) and makes people feel wretched & forsaken. So in Rom 8:2 Law vs Law, it's as if comparing Loser vs Loser; not Winner.

Eg: Paul of Saul-->Paul: "wretched" via "another law"
Eg: David and Jesus: "forsaken" by law(Jeremiah 23:39)

Pst: Peter of Simon-->Peter is notably still called "Satan"
Pst: Paul of Saul-->Paul tried another law & it felt wretched

Pst: Peter(Satan) is told: "when thou art converted", then...
Pst: Converted Paul called Paul The Apostle, not an apostle

Pst: Above a servant is neither of two servants compared:
3. No more a servant, but a Son
2. Servants(Slaves) of righteousness
1. Servants(Slaves) of sin

YES! And also in the Bible, God gives us great examples of many people who were VERY close to God ( Moses, Abraham, Isaac being a few) Who fell short of God's glory. This is to show us that every christian will at times fall short and sin. But also how God convicts us through His Holy Spirit so we KNOW when we sin-- we have that guilt, that desire NOT to do it. I know whenever I sin, I feel awful, and I seek forgiveness from God-- knowing full well He has forgiven me and continues to forgive me when I repent. Repentence is very important when we are saved. I think more churches need to speak up about this more. Yes Paul struggled, and so did many others in the Bible-- and this shows us we too, who feel so much less than they, are just like them! I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit! These first two verses below speak of someone who DELIBERATELY sins....
1 John 3:6
No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

1 John 3:9
No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.
--This verse speaks of us who fall into sin, because we are weak to the flesh ( but know full well it is wrong )
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Amen and Amen bro. The closer we walk with the Lord, the less likely we will be to walk away from him to enter into sin. Not that we have already attained perfection but we're headed towards being like Him.

I do agree....it is very comforting to know that we all, even apostles, struggled with a war within. We are not alone, and can choose which slave we succumb to...God's law or sin's.

Thank you for such a thought provoking question and verses this morning :-)

For those few verses, I am very thankful to Apostle Paul.

The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Crucifying the flesh daily is not easy, but it would be impossible without the Holy Spirit within me. Thank you, Jesus!

Yes, Paul was human. I always joke that I named my son David after David & Goliath NOT David & Bathsheba. LOL. ALL have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. [Rom 3:23] Praise Jesus for making a way for us. [John 14:6]

I thank God as well. It is inevitable that we can avoid sin, but with the help of our one and only savior Jesus Christ, we can be at peace.
