We are staying at a resort near Disneyland for 7 nights in Jan 08. We are from Australia and would like to know what we should do as far as food that is a good price but also relatively healthy and filling. Please help?

How about I give you some names to go by. In Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom there are a number of places to eat, but food will cost you quite a bit, every place will offer some healthy choices also. Try some of the buffets so you can eat a lot. For Breakfast I like the Minnie and Friends buffet at the plaza inn at the end of main street. Goofy's kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel also has a character breakfast buffet but I have never done breakfast there, only dinner and its quite good. Also there is the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at Disney's Paradise Pier hotel at PCH Grill. These will run you about $20.00 plus per person Breakfast but they are a lot of fun and its all you can eat. We also like Storyteller Cafe at Disney's Grand Califronian for dinner, it is not a character dining experience, a little more adult oriented, it has a mini buffet or you can order off the menue. Blue Bayou is the place in Pirates of the Caribbean, we will be eating there in Novemeber, i havent been in years and its pricey and I have heard mixed reviews of late. They are known for their Monte Cristo sandwich there.
Hook's Point at Disneyland Hotel is seafood and pretty good, there is also a character dining in California adventure called Ariels Grotto for seafood. Downtown Disney has several places, the only one I have eaten at is Rainforest Cafe, its fun and you get a lot of food for the money. The main reason I dont eat at DTD is wait times are ofter very long.

There are several more places at the hotels but I have not eaten at all of them, the Disney website will give you a list and type of food for all of them.

Off property there are places everywhere, all your major fast food places, Dennys, IHOP, there is a Mimi's on Harbor also, they are pretty good, theres Tony Romas also, i havent eaten there but my GF loves it. Down the street, west of the park on Harbor there is an Outback also, if you get a chance to eat there give it a try then let me know if its BS or is it really how you all eat in OZ.

For counter service in the parks I like Taste Pilots grill at California Adventure, its burgers ribs and chicken, corn dog castle has good corn dogs also, and believe it or not theres a mcdonalds in the park.

At Magic Kingdom Rocket Rods in Tomorrowland has salads and pizza/pasta, the littel red cart at the end of main street has those good corn dogs also. I also like the country bear in Critter Country and theres a burger place in Fantasyland that has about the same types of burgers. Carnation Cafe on main street has sandwiches and soup, its good, but small and often you will have to wait a bit to get seated.

Make sure you have a Mickey Premium bar also, go to any ice cream cart to get one. The Carmel corn at California Adventure is great also.

And almost forgot, its not my thing but it might be yours, Disney is known for its turkey legs, these are like 3 pound monster legs and people love them, I'm just not big on turkey myself. Find them in Frontierland at a cart in from of the Mark Twain docks.

Dining is really part of the Disney Experience, look at the Disney website www.disney.go.com and click travel, Disneyland and dining and see what they have. Make sure you do at least one character dining experience, they are a blast and I'm not a kid.

In my opinion, other than the buffets, Disneyland is lacking good breakfast places, I recommend eating breakfast before you go to the parks unless your are doing one of the character breakfast buffets. If your resort doesnt have a continental breakfast find a stop and rob (these are small stores on just about every corner and at gas stations that sell beer and some basic food items at inflated prices, see 7-11) and buy some donuts or fruit, cerial or whatever you like and eat in the room before you go.

Have fun

There are plenty of places to eat at the Disneyland Resort -- inside the theme parks and at Downtown Disney (the shopping area).

Lots to choose from at varying price levels.

Visit the official Disney site -- http://www.disneyland.com/ and read up on all the restaurants.

Have a great trip!

I guess your resort is located near or on Harbor Blvd, just outside Disneyland. There are so many places to eat on Harbor. Obviously, eating inside Disneyland would cost more than eating on Harbor Blvd.

near the disneyland entrance is a pedestrian mall called downtown disney w/ theme restaurants & shops -- some are pretty nice tho prices are what you would expect.

chk w/ your hotel for other nearby recommendations which interest you -- orange county has great ethnic restaurants scattered about as well as fine dining & you may also be interested in visiting orange county beach towns, los angeles or sandiego for daytrips. you can take the train....
