ok. what i want everybody to do, is give one reason for both believing in god and not believing in god. you have to give both. like what is the best reason you can think of. don't put anything hateful, cause all you have done is cause hate on yahoo answers. just give it a try.
example:
believe: because of all the truly good things that happen. like not just happy things or stuff like that. but like the miracles of life.
don't believe: when children die. i don't understand what kind of god, would let helpless babies die. for no reason and causet that much pain for the people of the lost one.

Believe: There is no evidence that says there's not, and it fills a need for higher and greater meaning in our lives.
Don't believe: There is no evidence that says there is, and it takes away from my ability to be the master of my own destiny.

I can think of no reason to believe in the Christian god.I don't feel there is even one thing beneficial in it.
A "creator"god? As in deism?Maybe because no matter how far science takes it,to the big bang, brane theory, whatever,it will never answer "1st cause"I don't think a god is necessary, but it can't be argued against really.
Why not?Because I am then free to pursue the truth, wherever it may lead,as opposed to being stuck trying to "interpret"scripture in an old, heavily edited book written by people who used clay pottery. If there is a god,I have a better chance of finding it through searching for the truth than I would trying to make him fit in a goat herders book

Reason NOT to believe:
Absolutely no proof and in fact the proofs of the universe all point to not having any divine being.
Reason TO believe:
A profound personal experience that cannot be explained to anyone else. This of course isn't a reason to get others to believe since it was a personal experience, but I trust these type of people more than those who try to show you proof of god

believe: The concept of God has provided hope to live for a lot of people who are down in their life. This leads to believe that there is a God who can help people.
Don't believe: The question of hope is a matter of personal view of life. A person with his strength and support from friends can get back and lead a full life without the need for an imaginary person.

believe: because the living God has touched my heart and changed my life.
don't believe: When I think of myself as being more than what I am, or knowing more than what I really do.
The proof is not in any religion, philosophy or book... it is in the experience. Jesus truly is the way, the truth, and the life.

Reason for not believing in God:
-No concrete proof especially in relevance to how God is often described in organized religion.
- Abusive dogma by religious institutions (e.g. condemnation of homosexuals).
Reasons for believing in God:
-Concept of God instilled and affirmed by family and local culture.
-Lack of evidence that science can provide answers to complex questions about life (e.g. the creation of the universe and life).

BELIEVE: Because God is alive and real. He sent Jesus to die for our sins, so we can be with Him for eternity. (Unfortunately not everyone can comprehend these facts because they don't have the faith.)
DON'T BELIEVE: Because it's easier to do what we want, than what God asks of us. I guess some people like not believing because they feel that if they don't acknowledge God, He won't be real, heaven & hell won't be real, and that relieves them of the obligation of obeying Him.
