People seem to rely on the fact that when dating techniques first came out they were not very accurate. Since then their accuracy has been refined to such a point that independent labs confirm like for fossil dates to within a few thousand years.

Why do creationists and Christians still cling to this original argument and fail to accept that dating techniques have now been validated and proven to work? The earth is millions of years old. Get over it and move on!

Unity the most telling thing you say is easiest to hold onto. The truth, however, is often the hard way. Do you believe because that is the easy option? A get out of jail free card if you like!!!!

The dating Techniques that you refer to have not been confirmed, they have been fabricated, with rock hard solid evidence that shows it to be a psuedo secular satanic fabrication. it has not been vailidated,
I don't care what credibility the whole world assigns to it, it is a fabrication.

There are two things that you might want to consider.

Doctors used to think that sickness was caused by "bad blood" and people like George Washington died because the doctors of his day let out too much "bad blood" in an attempt to make him well. Medical science, like other sciences, is advancing and things that were once thought to be "facts" are now seen as obvious errors.

The second thing to consider is that dating methods used by scientists today are only as "accurate" as the presuppositions that they bring to their equations. The notion that these techniques "have now been validated and proven to work" is in itself a supposition.

These techniques may be fairly accurate or there may be things that we do not yet know that would cause future scientists to look upon our modern dating techniques the same way that we look upon the doctors who treated people by bleeding the bad blood out of their bodies. The accepted estimated age of the earth has been changing just in the last 50 years as scientists come up with some new basis to make that estimate on.

Lastly, the Bible doesn't come out and say how old the earth is. The idea that it does started somewhere around the 4th century AD when a monk got out his abacus and started adding up lists from different passages in the Bible.

What the Bible does clearly teach is that the earth and the people on it have a divine Creator to whom we will have to give an account of what we did while we were occupying his planet. If you don't have Jesus as your Savior then you will have to pay for every time that you broke one of God's laws all on your own. The wages of sin is eternal punishment but the free gift of God is eternal life in the Lord Jesus.

Don't forget to add: God also gave us the knowledge to "play God" and clone, as well as euthanasia, and the modern abortion techniques, and of course the sword, Manhattan Project, Harry Potter, and pretty much every other "evil" thing that has been invented on this planet has all it's roots placed in God, so who REALLY created evil then?

Also, (I do agree with your "thesis") if some Christians argue that God gave us medicine and doctors, why do some resist it then? Saying it "goes against God" when God let us have it? Very very confusing....

Why should it matter how old the Earth is? I don't really care, other than to see the shocked looks of creationists and Christians, but still they will think that the technique is "faulty" and say it's still six or so thousand years old...ugh....

First, I will answer the first question. YEs God gave us medicine long before doctors in His created plants. Absolutely. Many of us still use them today, herbs, instead of the dangersous RX meds that are out there. absolutely. Praise God for all HE does for us.
Now, the second one you bring up is fascinating, that you would use this in conjuction with the medical question,as they have nothing to do with each other.
The Christians hang on to their beliefs about Creation for several reasons. One, we believe what the Bible says. PERIOD. and is it without evidence??? Absolutely not.
YOu need to read some of the things written by scientists that are Chrisitian, and they show just how science will line up with Gods word. In 1 Tim 6:20, God telle us about false science/knowledge. IF science doesnt line up with the word of God, it is FALSE. Those are Gods words. SO we start from the belief and knowledge of that What God says is truth, very real, and God gives us spiritual revelation and shows us how to allow true science to speak to us about these things.
The dating methods are not accurate, and scientists that are christian will explain all that. Besides that, what you say does not matter. If I gave you so called proof that you arent human, no matter what I gave you, you would KNOW you ARE human. Some things we just know, and we do KNOW that what God says is true. YOu can believe as you want, its a free world, and we can believe as we choose also, just be sure that your rights to believe do not ever try to supercede ours beliefs, and this is happening all over. where only evolution can be taught in schools, but creationism cant be taught, or at least without a lengthy court battle.

The current test for dating fossils are "so accurate" that a quick check of the Internet on the Lackey's skeleton "Lucy" (probably the best known and most studied fossils around today) gives me a spread of over 1.8 million years between "guesstimates" on its age. Since the most common age is around 3.2 million, that is just a 56% variation in the possible age. Sounds real real accurate to me....

Simply because the Earth is millions of years old does not mean that God(a creator) did not create the Earth and all of the Universe. It means that in human terms we are unable to describe how God created the Earth and all that is.

The simplest creation stories withstand because they are the easiest for all humanity to hold onto, a day in the life of God could be a million years or a blink of the eye, who can possibly know one way or the other.

Have you noticed that the first three days especially, of Genesis 1 are before the creation of Sun, Moon,and stars (Day 4)? The 24 hour day was derived from them probably. Days 1,2,and 3 could easily be more than 72 hours.

I know alot of people who won't/can't learn or accept new facts. I don't understand how their mind can not take it in, and I feel that if I did understand that, I'd be in danger of being like that.
Religious people, in my experience, turn the thinking brain off. They operate only on what they are told by certain people, and listen to nothing else.
Trying to reason with them is pointless. Better to appeal to those who can learn.

I would agree that it's good to move on. As a Christian, I try not to get hung up on Genesis 1.
Rather, if I want to give one chapter of the Bible my focus, I'll let it be Matthew 5, or Romans 12.... chapters that are practical for day to day living.
