My brothers and sisters in Christ - Good morning!

How would you interpret Phillipians 2:3

"In lowliness of mind, let each esteem others better than himself."

Do you think Paul is talking about our relationship with other believers, with the world or with both?

Hope everyone has a beautiful blessed day in the GRACE of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST!

If it's just with believers, I guess that explains the holier-than-thou attitude I receive from most Christians then? Since I'm not a believer, I guess Christians can be stuck-up to me then? That's not very Christ-like now is it? If you ask me, it's to everyone around you...BUT seeing once again the Christian arrogance in some aspects of life, I assume Christians are not following that little quote....just from my experiences, and remember when I say "Christian" I mean the ones that I have seen. Hope I helped! ^_^

Humility is the opposite of being proud. The Bible tells us that in the "last days" people would be "puffed up, haughty and self-assuming" (1 Timothy 3:1, 2)
But if you are humble - are you considered weak?
Actually the Bible shows that humility is a strength, not a weakness. Have you ever thought about God being humble?
Think about the great universe - God made it. That is an awesome thing to think about, yet, God cares for us lowly humans. He sent his son so that we might have life. He takes care of us, giving us the things we need to live. (Ps. 138: 6)
Jesus Christ could have been a great king while he was on earth, but he chose a lowly way of life instead. Yet Jesus was not weak, he defended his father's name and he had strength of character. He also had to have strength to overcome the temptations that Satan threw in front of him.
In our day, we have to be humble by pushing aside our own interests in order to serve our God. And humility requires moral strength, so we have to develop that as well.
Hope I have given you a small insight about humility.

Jesus made Himself of no reputation even among the ungodly and so we should also, This statement by Paul is how we are to behave with everyone. Because we are no better than the wicked, its Christ in us which makes us righteous. Self righteousness is like menstual rags to God according to the Old Testament. And self righteousness to the unbelievers is a serious offence.

Isa:64:6: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Study in Hebrew the original meaning of "filthy rags" in that verse to learn it speaks about menstual rags.

Other believers are of the world.
It means be truly humble and learn from other people, they have something to teach you no matter how you percieve them. For example, if a person inspires feelings of hatred or love in you, find out the cause of these feelings.

I kind of believe he's talking about everyone. Of course to the body of believers. But why would he designate that only to the body of believers and have us them talk to everyone else prideful?......
If we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves...I'm pretty sure Christ would have us treat all people the same with no partiality.

As you can see by the entire chapter, Paul is talking to the body of believers. He is telling them how to interact with each other.

Why are you asking us? Aren't you supposed to know everything in the Bible ?You are always quoting from it when you give answers.Does this mean you are not quite sure how to interpret some sections?

This is probably a reference to fellow believers because screw the rest of us. Right? Non-believers are to be reviled.

Know that you are not alone in your time of need...There are others that are put through worse situations than you.
