It's OK to seal them as long as they are completely cooled. If you seal them too soon, there is still moisture in there and they may get soggy.
Give them a good few hours to cool.

After the cookies have cooled completely, I have placed them in zip lock bags, then used a straw to get as much air out as I could. I shipped them overseas and they arrived just as fresh as the day I baked them.

You are right about them getting soggy, but don't leave the bag open or they will get hard as a rock and stale faster.
Put a paper towel in the bag with them to absorb any moisture.

you should completely cool them first after baking before storing. it will also make the crunchiness of the cookies last longer. happy baking!

I do it all of the time. I wait until completely cooled and then put into the heavy freezer bags for storage.

Yes, and any airtight container will do, I've always added a piece of bread to absorb any moisture.
