Not really, but it does offend many of my Christian friends. I don't think it really matters, but I never use it on things that are public simply because I know it offends some. I am a Christian, and I put it in the category of gagging over a gnat but swallowing a camel. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. If you meant no disrespect by writing and X in place of Christ's name, you are simply abbreviating to save time.....I just see no harm in it. I think Christ is more offended when you use His name in vain....in fact I know He is. The purpose of writing is to convey some communication and using the X doesn't take away from the meaning at all....everyone knows what that stands for. If, I'm wrong about this, I know somewhere down the line, God will let me know. He's good about that.

It doesn't offend me. In fact, I'm surprised more people don't use it. The word "Christian" is a bit long for a discussion where you may have to end up typing it many, many times. Notice that there isn't an abbreviation like that for the Jews. There are only 3 letters in Jew, who would need an abbreviation?

In a lot of early Christian Greek manuscripts they routinely used an abbreviation for the words "christ".and "god". Of course, the word "god" is a little bit longer in Greek than in English. Writing on papyrus is a bit more difficult, and expensive, than typing on a computer, as well.

I guess it depends on the level of the relationship the person has with Christ.

I know of people that are offended by "Xmas" because they feel that Christ is being "xed" out of the word. They may feel the same way about "Xian". But if it's true that "X" is the Greek for the letter "chi" then it might be OK.

It doesn't offend me but tells me that the person using it is doing everything possible to remove Christ from the written and spoken language. It is just another way of denying Christ.

Not really. It's just a label. People who get offended by such things are treading the waters of idolatry.

True Christians never get off ended.
We always stay focused on the end.

X-ians & Jesus-ians often get off ended.
They get tempted, baited, and deceived.

Grace neither tempts(laws) nor can be tempted(lawed).
Many involved with law vs law do tempt and get tempted.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

The terms "Xian" or "Xtian" has been around a lot longer than the internet, just like "Xmas". And I think it was coined by Christians.

I think the fact that primoa can't send texts sheds a lot of light on some things. My mom can text. Even my grandmother can text.
