We can find out about the anti Christ in the amazing book of Daniel
Daniel 7 talks of the four beasts that he sees
A beast in bible prophecy represents a kingdom/nation
The first beast is Babylon, the second is Medo-Persia, the third beast is Greece and the fourth beast is the Roman empire.
19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; 20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. 23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
The next horn that arose from the fourth beasts head is the anti Christ because it is against God.
Now look at the clues Daniel gives us.
A. The "little horn" or kingdom "came up among them"--the 10 horns which were the kingdoms of Western Europe (Daniel 7:8). So it would be a little kingdom somewhere in Western Europe.
B. It would have a man at its head who could speak for it (Daniel 7:8).
C. It would pluck up or uproot three kingdoms (Daniel 7:8).
D. It would be "diverse" or different from the other 10 kingdoms (Daniel 7:24).
E. It would make war with and "wear out" or persecute the saints (Daniel 7:21, 25).
F. It would emerge from the pagan Roman empire--the fourth world kingdom (Daniel 7:7, 8).
G. It would "speak great words against" or blaspheme God (Daniel 7:25). In Revelation 13:5, the Bible says the same power speaks "great things and blasphemies."
H. It would "think to change times and laws." Daniel 7:25.
I don’t mean to offend anyone who may be reading this but the antichrist is the papacy and I can go into futher detail explaining why.
A. It "came up among" the 10 kingdoms of Western Europe.
The geographical location of the papal power was in Rome, Italy--the very heart of the territory of Western Europe.
B. It would have a man at its head who speaks for it.
The papacy meets this identifying mark because it does have one man at the head (the pope) who speaks for it.
C. It would pluck up or uproot three kingdoms.
The emperors of Western Europe were largely Catholic and supported the papacy in its growth and authority. Three Arian kingdoms, however, did not support the papacy--the Vandals, Heruli, and Ostrogoths. So the Catholic emperors decided they must be subdued or destroyed. Thus were three horns --the Heruls, the Vandals, and the Ostrogoths--'plucked up by the roots.' " It is not difficult to recognize that the papacy fits this point.
D. It would be "diverse" or different from the other kingdoms.
The papacy clearly fits this description, also. It came on the scene as a religious power and was totally different from the secular nature of the other 10 kingdoms.
E. It would make war with and persecute the saints.
That the church did persecute is a well-known fact. The papacy clearly admits doing so
2. In The History of the Inquisition of Spain, D. Ivan Antonio Llorente provides these figures from the Spanish Inquisition alone:
31,912 persons were condemned and perished in the flames.
241,450 persons were condemned to severe penalties.
F. It would emerge from the fourth kingdom of iron--the pagan Roman Empire.
1. "The mighty Catholic Church was little more than the Roman Empire baptised ... The very capital of the old Roman Empire became the capital of the Christian empire. The office of Pontifex Maximus was continued in that of the pope." 2
G. It would speak "great words" of blasphemy "against the most High [God]."
Blasphemy has two definitions in Scripture:
1. Claiming to forgive sins (Luke 5:21).
2. Claiming to be God (John 10:33).
Does this point fit the papacy? Yes! Let's first look at the evidence for it claiming to forgive sins: "Does the Priest truly forgive the sins, or does he only declare that they are remitted? The Priest does really and truly forgive the sins in virtue of the power given to him by Christ." 5 The papacy further undermines Jesus by setting up a system of confession to an earthly priest, thus bypassing Jesus, our High Priest (Hebrews 3:1; 8:1, 2) and only Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5).
I. It would "think to change times and laws."
The reference is to changing God's law. Of course, no one can really change it, but has the papacy attempted to do so? The answer is "yes."
In its catechisms, the papacy has omitted the second commandment against veneration of images and has shortened the fourth commandment from 94 words to eight and divided the tenth commandment into two commandments. (Check this for yourself. Compare the Ten Commandments in any Catholic catechism with God's list of the commandments in Exodus 20:3-17.) There is no doubt that the little horn power of Daniel chapter 7 (the Antichrist) is the papacy. No other organization could possibly fit these nine points. And incidentally, this is no new teaching. Every Reformer, without exception, spoke of the papacy as Antichrist.

You recieved some good answers, yes, the Apostle John in his letters to the Church of God warned that there were already many anti-christs at work, even in his day.
Jana11 and some others are pointing you in the right direction.
However, Paulo, specifically, has misread the scripture he quoted out of Matthew, what it actually says is:
Mt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, IF IT WERE POSSIBLE, they shall deceive the very elect.
In other words, the Elect are going to see through the deception of these false prophets.
Our focus should be on studying the Bible to: 1Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Rather than looking for the anti-christ, our focus should be on watching for and searching for the last 2 great prophets, the final 2 witnesses that the Almighty is going to send towards the end of this age to warn the world to repent of it's sins(Revelations 11:3).

The anti-christ is a man with human parents and the spirit of Satan enters him later in life. He isn't born that way, like "Damien" or "Rosemary's Baby" movies. He will be an intellectual genius, an oratorical genius, political genius, commercial genius, military genius, religious genius, he will begin by controlling the western block, he will make a 7 year convenant with Israel but will break it, he will attempt to destroy all of Israel, he will destroy the false religious system of that time so he can rule unhindered, he will set himself up as God, he will briefly rule over all nations, he will lose to Jesus at Armageddon, he will be the first creature thrown in the lake of fire, he will be a master of deceit, he will profane the temple, he will be energized by Satan himself, he will do everything according to his own selfish will, he will not regard the God of his fathers, his god will be the god of power, he will have no desire of women. Also, the generation that sees the reestablishment of the nation of Israel will see the end. What is a generation? A 100 years. Israel became a nation on May 5, 1948. Basically, a 200 million man army descends upon Israel in the Valley of Megiddo. I think these armies will be Muslim. A revived Roman Empire of 10 countries-5 strong (USA is one), 5 weak-come to Israel's aid. Sounds like a partial coalition to me. The western coalition wins but one third of the world dies instantly, and another third dies from famine and plague-nuclear war, I believe. The leader of this revived roman empire (president, probably) restores order to the world and is a good man for 3 and a half years, but then Satan enters him and he turns evil and wants the world to worship him and Israel refuses. After another 3 and a half years, he attacks Israel and if the day were not shortened, mankind would cease to exist. But, the Jews finally turn to Christ and He comes back and defeats the devil. Christians are resurrected, life on earth is perfect for a thousand years and then this heaven and earth are rolled up like a scroll and a new heaven and earth are created by God. Read Revelation (especially chapter 21 and Book of Daniel). I personally believe that 9/11 will be looked back upon as the beginning of the end. Also the Bible says that in the final days, people will be proud of what they should be ashamed of, there will be an increase of knowledge as never before in the history of the world, evil will increase and so will the good to fight said evil, that the nation of Israel will be reestablished -1948 and they will get Jerusalem back when the time of the gentiles is fulfilled-1967. Some people do believe the anti-christ will be the Pope but I don't and yes, John wrote Revelations through divine inspiration and he knew about Nero and Rome but there are many stories in the Bible that deal with dualities-then and in the future.

The Anti-Christ isn't Bill Clinton, Bill Gates or Bill O'Rielly...but then again...maybe they are anti-christs...anyone who denies Christ, the Messiah has come in the flesh as the Son of God is an anti-christ. There is no one evil man, like in the Omen movies, who will take over the world and be this ominous miricle working leader with a 666 tattooed on his forehead...all of that written in prophecy is real and ligit but so many have mistaken it and as well alot of it has already been fulfilled. We are merely waiting on the fulness of God to come in and the more chaotic the world becomes the more people will begin to separate into believers or non-believers and the nons will hate the believers...things will get pretty bad...however, those that perservere in Christ will conquer..so stay in the Word of God and learn these things from Him...see what His Word says...
1 John 2:18
Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1 John 2:22
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 John 1:7
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
God bless you. Love in Christ, ~J~

Those who deny that Jesus is the Christ and deny that Jesus has come in the flesh are anti-christs:
1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out in the world. By this you know the Sprit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has not come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of Anti-christ, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

According to the events in Revelation, he will appear to be a man of peace about mid-way through the great tribulation (3.5 years into it). There will be a false peace between Israel and her enemies, to include the Anti-Christ. He is called the man of lawlessness. Seeing how daily life is in the Middle East, lawlessness seems to flourish.
Take from that what you will. He probably will be a well revered leader in the Middle East through which peace with Israel will be realized -- at least for a brief moment.
Then look out!

Jimmy Carter is the Anti-Christ, or at least will become thee Anti-Christ after the death of President Obama! I saw the death of President Obama in a dream!
Obama is the 7th King in Rev. 17:10 (also in Daniel 11:20) who will die before his term in office is over with! The Bible says in Rev. that Anti-Christ was one of the previous presidents before him and will serve a second term in office after the death of Obama!
The Anti-Christ will be one of the 7 kings in Rev. 17:10
And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Those 7 kings were all alive when George W. Bush was the President in 2001 and they were:
1. Gerald Ford
2. Jimmy Carter
3. Ronald Reagan
4. George H. W. Bush
5. Bill Clinton................these 5 are fallen.
6. George W. Bush.... is spoken of in the present tense (and one is) because until Reagan died all 7 were alive when George W. Bush was in office!
7. Barack Obama....... [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Obama is also in Daniel 11:20
Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes [in] the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.
I believe that Daniel 11:20 is prophecy saying that Obama will be a raiser of taxes and die within a few days after that!
The angel Gabriel told me in Aug. 1973 that Jimmy Carter is the Anti-Christ and that he is going to change his name and divorce his wife!
Also i saw the death of Obama in a vision in 1978, and again in a dream!

He is a man who will arise as a peace maker. he will suddenly bring destruction on Israel. It is considered that he is of Jewish descent. I personally believe he is in the world right now as the time seems to be right however we can't tell his identity. He will rise to power during the tribulation and make a pact with the beast and the false prophet. The Bible talks about the great 7 year tribulation which will come immediately after the return of Christ. All believers will be taken out of the world as the Lord will not allow His children to go through this terrible time of death and destruction. the anti-christ is a man.

The Emperor Nero was believed by early Christians to be the Anti-Christ. They thought he was going to come back from the dead...but he didn't. Thus, Revelations is something you don't have to worry about. http://usminc.org/Paranormal/antichrist.html

The AntiChrist will likely be the 12 Imam from Islam. It is interesting that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a believer of the 12 Imam.
Just a quick background, and I may have some facts wrong: the previous 11 Imams were decedents of Muhammad and are believed by Shiite Muslims to be the rightful heir to serve as the head of Islam. As a young boy, 100's of years ago, the 11th Imam went into hiding and the Shiites have been waiting for his reappearance.
Here is where it gets interesting in light of Biblical scripture:
the 12th Imam will rule for 7 years (like the AC).
He will wage war on Israel (like AC).
When he is through with his term, there will be world peace.
--
It is my opinion that after the removal of the church, there will be no opposition to radical islam. The AC will be revealed and want to convert the world to Islam. Those that do not convert will be beheaded (kind of like they are today).
What has kept Islam from being accepted? The absence of miracles. The 12th Imam, AntiChrist, will be able to perform miracles as he will be powered by Satan. The good news is that Israel will survive. The bad news is that 1/3 of mankind (2,000,000) will die in the forthcoming middle east wars before Jesus returns.
AntiChrist cannot be Nero because the Euphrates river did not dry up during his time.
--edit--
If the AntiChrist isn't the 12th Imam, then the 12th Imam would be the prime candidate for the False Prophet.

Hadith - Bukhari 9.237, Narrated Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established
(1) till two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following one and the same religious doctrine,
(2) till about thirty Dajjals (liars) appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allah's Apostle,
(3) till the religious knowledge is taken away (by the death of religious scholars)
(4) earthquakes will increase in number
(5) time will pass quickly,
(6) afflictions will appear,
(7) Al-Harj, (i.e., killing) will increase,
(8) till wealth will be in abundance--so abundant that a wealthy person will worry lest nobody should accept his Zakat, and whenever he will present it to someone, that person (to whom it will be offered) will say, 'I am not in need of it,'
(9) till the people compete with one another in constructing high buildings,
(10) till a man when passing by a grave of someone will say, 'Would that I were in his place,'
(11) and till the sun rises from the West.
So when the sun will rise and the people will see it (rising from the West) they will all believe (embrace Islam) but that will be the time when: (As Allah said,) 'No good will it do to a soul to believe then, if it believed not before, nor earned good (by deeds of righteousness) through its Faith.' (6.158) And the Hour will be established while two men spreading a garment in front of them but they will not be able to sell it, nor fold it up; and the Hour will be established when a man has milked his she-camel and has taken away the milk but he will not be able to drink it; and the Hour will be established before a man repairing a tank (for his livestock) is able to water (his animals) in it; and the Hour will be established when a person has raised a morsel (of food) to his mouth but will not be able to eat it."
