As salaamu 'alaikym, my brothers.

Some men choose to let their beards grow while others perfer to shave.

If you have a beard, why did you make that choice?

If you shave, why have you decided to do that ?

Do you let your hair grow or do you keep it cut? Why did you make that chioce?

Jazak'Allah khair for all of the sincere answers.

Ma'a salaam.

As salaamu 'alaikym.
This question was directed towards male Muslims in that we are directed in the Sunnah Hadiths to let our beards grow. Some choose to follow the Sunnah and some don't and I was wondering why those who did not do not.
Ma'a salaam.

Dear Brother

Wa'likumussalaam Warahmatullah

Keeping Beard is an act of Sunnah. While it is not obligatory Fardh in Shariah but highly encouraged by Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam.

I keep beard Alhamdulillah.

There is a Hadeeth saying of Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam that whoever imitates the personal styles of any community he is from among them.

He also specifically said Yahood wo Nasaara grow their Mustaches and shorten their beards, you grow beards and shorten your mustaches to have an identity and against their tradition.

Again in another Hadeeth He sallallallhu alaihi wasallam limited the length of the beard to the person's length of his fists and encouraged to keep it trimmed.Personal upkeep is the tradition of Sunnah.

He peace be on him had the Blessed Hairs on his Head longer upto the ear lobe ends and also it is said that He had them upto his shoulders length. He shaved his Blessed head while performing Haj.

So growing hairs on head with the limit and shaving are both His Sunnah.

His sunnah is to shave off the under Armpit and Pubic hairs once in Forty days.

Alhamdulillah, Allahumma salle a'la syedina Muhammad wa'la aali syedina Muhammad wabarik wasallim.

I have a beard, but it's for a fairly odd reason. I'm right-handed, and once developed tendonitis in my right hand. Not able to shave with that hand, I tried using my left, only to find that I cut myself to ribbons. So I quit shaving and grew a beard.

The tendonitis is gone now, but I've kept the beard out of laziness more than anything else. Shaving is a nuisance!

My beard is purely a fashion thing -- I have a weak chin, as well as a bit of a "baby face" (I'm nearly 37, but without the beard I look about ten years younger).

I'm your brother in the sense that we're the same species but I'm not part of your barbaric and stone-age religion.

I don't have a beard but sometimes I go a couple of weeks without shaving. Doesn't fill in uniformly enough. We can't all be Will Ryker.
