Little fingers on A and ; (middle row). This is your base. Use your thumb on the spacebar. Close your eyes and tap each finger on each key in turn saying to yourself a s d f space ; l k j Open eyes and check if you've done it correctly. If you haven't, do it again - but say the letters to yourself as you tap the keys. When you finally do it right for three whole lines of type, try making up little words out of the letters you've memorised using the correct fingers. sad; fad; dad; lad; (with the semicolon and a space between each word) eyes closed and still say the letters. When you can finally do about three lines of these all correctly you go on to add the g with the index finger of your left hand and the h with the index finger of your right hand. Go through the whole lot again with the little words and semicolons and then you start adding the top row qaq; (and words like before.) It gets interesting at this point because you can start making up proper sentences and they can be extremely rude if you are that way inclined. wsw; ded; frf; ftf; jyj; juj; kik;lol; ;p;;
When you can do all that without looking for 3 correct lines you start on the bottom row and you'll find you can touchtype if you don't cheat. Then you just practise and get your speed up. It's not exactly quick but the knowledge will stay with you for life and is better than looking at what you are doing while tapping with two or four fingers.

theres this game on popcap.com called typershark. It starts out easy and gets harder. If nothing else, take a class at your highschool, local community college, or through community education classes for adults.
