I was dumped by my boyfriend today because "our height difference was getting in the way". I admit, he's nearly 6'0 and I'm just 5'1, but I really DIDN'T think it was so important. I feel so bad because it has happened before. I look okay, I'm outgoing, fun, love to hang out with friends... I don't think my personality has to do anything with it (this guy said that when a guy doesn't like you, they'll give any excuse to break up with you, mostly your height, but I doubt that's it...).

Is height really that important to guys out there?

Thanks in advance...

Height doesn't matter to me. I'm nearly 6'0 and I dated a girl that is 5'0....a bit shorter than you. Besides, I just love short women. Plus, none of my friends or guy co-workers have ever mentioned that height mattered to them. Your ex is just a bum and came up with a lame excuse. You shouldn't blame yourself for something that you can't control. Just think, it's his loss not yours.

Wow! I didn't realize people were so concerned about an issue such as this. Many years ago, I was dumped by a gal that was only 4'10." She was the one with the concern, because I'm 6'8" tall.

I've never really paid attention to this issue, unless someone is drooling over the fact that I'm so tall. I'm human too, and it is just as irritating to receive the "dumping" from someone who has a complex about my height.

I've learned to respond in kind lately. If someone asks if I play basketball, I ask them if they play miniture golf...

This is either an ice breaker, or they missed the joke. If they missed the joke, they weren't paying attention, and I don't need to clutter my life with these kind of people. If they laugh, well there may be hope for real friendship.

Keep looking for a 'real friend' that won't care about this issue. I kept looking, and found a 6' tall gal and we have been married 22 years!

Good Luck!

It couldn't be that important. I see many "odd couples" like that, and they look just as happy as can be. He was probably looking for an excuse to get out of the relationship.

By the way I call the "odd couples" only because it is not the so called norm, not to be detrimental. I am 5'8" and wish I was one of those cute petite girls that I see. Y'all look so cute in your clothes!!

Personally, I like shorter women. But that's because I'm only 5'7''
