I am the same way. I prefer to cook and eat at home rather than eat out. The reasons being the same as you stated. I know what is in the food and how much.

I like variety. I usually don't eat foods in restaurants I can cook for myself at home. If I am in a new restaurant, I try the special of the day, because it'll be the best they can do!
I like to cook at home, but once in a blue moon a restaurant for a celebrations is okay.

I would say a mix...
I basically try to eat home, and also bring lunch to work since I as you believe home food are healthier at least if you cook with that in mind.
However, I get a lot of new ideas and inspiration when I eat out so I really enjoy that too.
So I would say eat home 90%, eat out 10%!

I only dine at a restaurant if it is some sort of celebration with family and friends. Otherwise I prefer home cooking. It's healthier, tastier and a darn side cheaper. Besides ,I like the taste of my own cooking if I may say so.

I prefer to eat home cooked food. It's less expensive, healthier and you can make it however you want. My boyfriend is a great cook and he makes the best Spaghetti! But it's okay to go out and eat a restaruant every now and then just for the hell of it.

Well, seeing as I'm a Chef...I prefer to eat at home...especially is someone else cooks!~!!!!
I do agree though, about it being a healthier option to cook at home, but when you go out for a meal, surely you would make it a nice treat and eat something you really enjoy???

Hi Sal,
two words : portion control. I'd rather cook and eat "in".
Nothing is more satisfying than finding a great on line recipe, cooking for a woman, and enjoying the meal together.
Restaurants are nice for a break in routine, for a first date, etc.
