Okay, I just went to the doctors today and found out I have bronchitis. What exactly is it? and what are the chances of it developing into pneumonia or just getting worse. I am just curious

Bronchitis is when you have had an upper respiratory infection and the brochial tubes, which are part of the airway branches, become inflamed and cause a great deal of a dry painful coughing. Once you have acute bronchitis, it usually takes awhile to subside, but seems that with subseqent respiratory infections the bronchi are sensitive and are easily irritated again. Therefore, you may experience bouts of bronchitis in the future when you get a bad cold.. I doubt you'll have any problems with pnenmonia, as that is usually caused by a virus or a bacteria settling in your plura or the sacs of your lungs.. But chronic bronchitis is not pleasant, so sorry to hear you have it and just take lots of vitamins and try to avoid being in close contact with people you know are ill with respiratory infections. Kinda hard to do, I know.. Feel better soon.. :-)

You mean your doctor didn't explain what this is, how you got it, how to treat it, and how to prevent its return/worsening?

Call your MD and ask to speak with at least the head nurse.
