Don't be scared. It's important that you get tested (especially because you have been sexually active). Being embarrassed or scared should never be more important that finding out something about your health. You only get one body, so you have to take care of it!

I was personally diagnosed with genital herpes and HPV when I was 17 years old. My mother was in the room with my when my doctor came in a said "you have genital herpes". I was so hurt and completely embarrassed because my mom was right there! But, even though she was there I was still glad I finally knew what was wrong with me and I was able to get it treated. Since then she has been my biggest supporter and I'm thankful she was there for me.

You would hate to have something and have it go unnoticed. Some STDs can cause fertility problems, death, and HPV can cause cancer. It's better to be safe then sorry! Good luck!

Your 18 and legally an adult. The physician's office can't give out any information on you without your consent.

They routinely check for that during your annual pap smear. It's visible on the cervix, if you've had one recently it would've showed up. Other than that, if you just went to the health dept. they would do it free of charge.
