Cooks. Seriously, it may be 1 step above Andre, but your guests will never know if they don't see the bottle. Our guests swore we paid $30 a bottle where in reality it was $4 a bottle!

Cook's Brut champagne sells for $13.99, but it's a double-size bottle. To some people, one big bottle says "opulence" in a way that two smaller bottles does not.
Andre brut champagne is only $5.99, and it's not too shabby.
Dom michelle brut champagne is on sale through October 1 in Pennsylvania for $9.99.
A lot of people spend a fortune on a wedding reception, as if they need to impress someone. That seems foolish to me. The bride and groom are committing themselves for a lifetime of either joy or pain, or, most likely, both. Isn't that *enough* of a reason for friends, neighbors, relatives, and coworkers to gather and celebrate? Do you really think they need to be bribed with a $35/plate caterer, and lots of liquor?
We did the overdoing-it thing when I married my (late) first wife, and I didn't have a drop to drink, but I hardly remember it, because so much was going on, and I was under so much stress. When I married my current wife, my trophy wife, we said our vows in front of a district justice, then a couple of months later, we had a big picnic at a local park with a wedding cake, burgers and brats on the grill, and we played volleyball. God, it was so much better when we were relaxed, and everybody was wearing comfortable clothes, and everybody had a ton of fun. Since then, three others who attended our wedding picnic have themselves followed up their wedding with a casual celebratory festival at a later date, because it struck them as being a smart thing to do, as well.
You're going to be married a good long time. No need to get everything done in just one day. And no need to knock the socks off everybody. If they aren't impressed already that you married so well, you're not going to change their mind.

I have a great recipe for a mimosa-like champagne punch that would allow you to use the cheap stuff. You can freeze it into ice cube trays and pour the champagne right over it.
It has a simple sugar syrup, orange juice, lemon juice, mashed bananas, and frozen strawberries in it. Delicious, and really really special. The more the cubes melt, the more fragrant the mimosa. And very easy to serve. Your caterer could totally do it for you, and everyone flips over this drink.
