Pneumonia can be very stubborn but usually responds to antibiotics. I have had it three times in my life and all three times was cured with penicillin, which doesn't help if you are allergic.

Best course of action if you have had antibiotics is to rest and let your body heal. Your lungs should clear in time. Fever is a normal by-product of the healing process. If it is not a high fever, just rest and don't worry about it--your doctor should be able to prescribe something to relieve the discomfort.

There are many strains of pneumonia and they don't all have exactly the same characteristics or symptoms. They can be caused either by bacteria or by a virus. All pneumonia can be deadly because it can result in your lungs filling up with fluids that could drown you.

Sounds like you are on the mend. Stay close to your doctor and do as recommended. Let the doctor know if you aren't getting better.

Maybe your house has: bad gymsum in the drywall that is moldy/ toxic. Or, bacterial or toxic mold in the basement. It could spread through the heating SYSTEM. They just released news that dry wall from China AND the USA is making people abandon brand new homes--they are condemning them. DON'T USE STEROIDS! My kids had childhood asthma, I said NO to steroid inhalers and kept them on Ventolin/Proventil. I hurt my arm at work, went to some quack that said he wanted to give me hydro cortisone. I said NO STEROIDS! He said then I should get Kenaloge--"It's not a steroid like hydrocortisone." I wanted to get back to work, so consented. He gave me 2 shots a month apart, then gave me 2 shots on the same day a month after that--one in the muscle, one in the joint. It's supposed to be given and 90 day intervals, not 30 days. Now I have glaucoma of sudden onset, I have no job. No money for a malpractice suit. Read about all the bad things steroids do to you! If asthma and allergies don't run in your family, I really would start checking out the house. Does someone smoke? Is it moldy, mildewed or dirty? Do you live near air pollution or even a busy freeway? Look all around your world, and get a better doctor.

5 days since your post , hope you are much better and got some of the advice that you received, but if you are still not 100% and temperature spikes over 38 C go to A&E can be very serious. My husband is on a breathing machine since April because of a stupid pneumonia ( community acquired) and now he is collecting every 2 weeks a new hospital acquired infection thru his tracheostomy. Take care

You may be suffering from bronchial congestion from the way you are describing your ailment. It may not be pneumonia after all. It could be a case Bronchial congestion called Bronchitis. Bronchitis is nothing but the congestion of the bronchules by excess formation of mucus. Bronchules are tiny branches in the lungs which end up in tiny air inlets called aliveoli, which absorb the oxygen from the air we breathe & send it to the blood.

Bronchitis is not very serious if initially treated. Later on, because of the settling of the mucus & solidification, it may turn out to become pnemonia. Is this your condition now? If it is, then it is slightly more serious in nature. But all these phases are reversible in nature, only if the relevant cause of the ailment is attacked. Like you have described, just by taking antibiotics for a week or so, you have only bothered to alienate the symptoms for the time being. But the cause remain intact.

Once the medicines have lost their effect, the cause becomes predominant once more, & each time it surfaces, its intensity will only increase as the body will constantly be subjected to antibiotics & will loose its immunity & also the strength to fight ailments.

It is important to understand where this mucus comes from to tackle bronchitis. Mucus is present in the stomach & the intestines. It forms a thin layer to protect the intestinal walls from being eaten away by the acids & bile that form the enzymes to digest the food we eat.

Because of our unhealthy eating practices, which i shall mention below, th mucus generation increases in the stomach & intestines. This excess mucus is pushed up into the lungs & sinus pockets which is a natural intellegent balance mechanism of the body.

To tackle bronchitis, the following preventive measures have to be adopted. It is necessary as the science of Ayurveda help to cure the cause rather than treating symptoms like bronchitis, for instance.

The following are the precaution that need to be adopted to prevent the onset of further complications & also to arrest the current bronchial infection;

1. Do not drink water with food.
2. Do not lie down immediately after food.
3. Do not eat sweet or drink sweet juices including soft drinks with, immediately before or immediately after food.
4. Do not eat too many raw foods or raw vegetables. Steam them or best cook them.
5. Do not consume any junk foods of refrigerated foods.
6. Sleep early, before 10 pm to ensure the system does not get agitated to let the excess flow of bile into the digestive system or circulation.
7. Ensure you drink plenty of water to flush out the toxins. Drink water only 1/2 an hour after meals.

I do not understand western medicine. So i do not understand what Ventolin does. If you are interested, you can definitely try to consume the following recipes, which are basically home remedies, that can effectively take care of your problem.

1. You can take a teaspoon of Fenugreek seeds. All 1/3rd tsp of Turmeric powder + 1/3rd tsp of Licorice powder. Boil them in water & inhale the vapour. you can do this 3 - 4 times a day. This will decongest the mucus.

2. Mix 1 tsp of Licorice powder in 100 ml water & boil it. As soon as the water comes to boil, take it off the stove & add 10 - 15 drops of melted Ghee (clarified butter). Drink 3 - 4 sips, once every 10 minutes X 5 times. This has to be necessarily followed up only after Lunch & Dinner. you will find substantial relief in 2 -3 days. Do revert back with your condition.
