Other than containing a LOT of salt, soy sauce is not particularly unhealthy.
The first response, though, was essentially correct. Most American Chinese food is prepared by stir frying in oil, deep frying and, otherwise drowning in rich, sweet, high calorie sauces.
Steamed veggies, on the other hand are VERY healthy, low in fat and calories and still contain a lot of good nutrients the body needs.
Doesn't matter if it's take out or eaten in the restaurant.

Like everyone else has already said, all take outs are generally unhealthy. They want you to keep coming back so the most important thing to them is taste which normally means they add a lot of things like salt and flavourings. Soy sauce isn't that healthy for you.
Chinese food takes hardly anytime to cook anyway... just chop up some veggies and throw them in a wok. Use a bit of oil but you can replace most of it with the right amount of water which will be much better for you. You can then add your own flavourings and keep the salt and other unhealthy stuff at a minimum.
If you do still end up ordering chinese try and find a vegan one. The one near me doesn't use GM food or coat their meals in oil and salt. They must get a lot of health conscious customers so I'm sure they would be fine if you asked them to use as little oil and salt as possible and try to make the dish low in fat.
Personally I can't eat indian food but I wouldn't imagine it would be that healthy for you. I don't think I could trust it because the strong flavours mask any flavours from the veggies so you wouldn't really be able to tell whether they're fresh or not.

If you are trying to lose weight,
ALL TAKE OUT IS BAD
Nothing is fresh in places like that, except for maybe very few exceptions
SALT IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST THING A HUMAN BEING CAN INGEST, AND IT IS PLENTIFUL IN SOY SAUCE, SO STAY AWAY
If you want to actually eat healthy, take the time to prepare your own meals, you don't need to cook
buy fresh veggies and fruits, and snack on them often
or combine to make a great salad WITH NO SALT OR DRESSING!!!!
To an average person, this sounds like it wouldn't taste so good, however, if you eat healthy, eventually your taste buds start to rediscover great tastes.
It is hard to switch and to keep at it for the first couple of weeks, but after that, eating veggies and fruits has SO MANY GREAT BENEFITS, and there is just no substitute for it.

Chinese and Indian food are both cooked in oil, which of course means tons of calories, not a good idea if you want to lose weight. You'd perhaps be better off getting a TV dinner which you just stick in the Micro. There are some wonderful vegtable varieties and far healthier than the take away.

No one has mentioned the most serious thing about Chinese food or take aways.
MONO SODIUM GLUTAMATE. is a flavour enhancer which is used all the time in Chinese food. When they cook your meal they have two large bowels at the back where they scoop up salt and mono sodium glutamate and throw it into your food, many times going over the top. You can smell it, and taste it and both are very bad for you....As for Indian food....It depends on the meal. Some are very healthy, while others contain lots of oil and fat. In this case learn about your Indian meals.

Chinese fast food is horrible for you!
Recently on the news it was giving numbers on how much sodium and fat were in some of the dished these fast food joints make. Your best bet is to only get steamed rice and veegtables and eat it plain with no sauce or soy sauce. Then you have a chance to lose weight with a proper diet and exercise. And eating out alone you can't have a proper diet sooo....back to square 1!

I don't really think any fast food/restaurants are good if you're trying to lose weight. I understand that cooking can be annoying, but losing weight takes work!
You just have to learn how to cook healthy stuff quick. Like- you can steam frozen vegetables in like 5 minutes and they're really good. Salads are really quick. Maybe you could take a healthy cooking class or something.
Basically, learn how to cook/eat healthy/exercise instead of "dieting". If you diet you'll just gain the weight back.

Take - a ways are NOT healthy - All of them have lots of salt and sugar - it's so they taste better for you. If you are serious about your diet you won't go near a take a way.
If you are able bodied - what's wrong with making your own GOOD healthy fresh food, - you say "I CAN'T BE BOTHERED",
so you must have time on your hands.
Get off your bum and do it, the more you cook fresh, the more you will enjoy it.
Other than that be prepared to stay bigger than you want to be - and stop moaning..........Good Luck.

And consume chicken as a exchange of crimson . If i grow to be having a in good shape chinese language identity have boiled rice (as a exchange of fried) which nevertheless tastes a lot nicer than living house cooked rice for some reason and has a pair table spoons much less fat in it! Stir frying helps veggies maintain their nutrients, and, particularly, if you use very little oil, it's healthy too.
Avoid items that have been deep fried and have heavy sauces - sweet and sour chicken is a definite no, no.
Indian food is highly calorific, the sauces often contain large amounts of cream and are high in fat content. Choose tandoori dishes that are cooked in a tandoor oven without fat, that's about as healthy as Indian food gets. Even veggie dishes are often very oily.
