I don't mean to be flippant, but if someone needs stints, I believe it would complicate your health more NOT to get them. You do what you have to do.

I think you mean "stents"....right? The titanium metal open-ended tubes inserted into arteries to keep them open...as in putting a stent into a heart blood vessel to keep the blood flowing.
A few years ago, my brother-in-law needed a stent placed in his blood vessel near his heart and a few months later, he had to have it replaced because there he had a clotting problem that occluded the stent.
However, since he had his surgery performed, researchers have developed stents that are coated with a material that has anti-coagulant properties. The second stent (the improved stent) is still functioning quite well and he has had no pain or complications since.
