I just don't get it. You seem like a huge batch of hippies. Animals that are going to be slaughtered have no bill of rights. Your refusal to eat them is sending no message. Oh, and humans have been eating meat since the beginnign of time. Why is it okay to kill a plant? They must have feelings to. And how come you can wear your leather shoes? If I was a cow I would rather be eaten and digested, instead of walking around on someone's smelly feet for a year. explain that?

You poor little irrational sweetheart!

1. Have you ever met a vegan, or are you judging millions of people based on a stereotype?

2. Animals hve no bill of rights? Ok, common sense/ history 101: legality does NOT equal morality

3. Humans have been clubbing and raping each other since the beginning of time also, that doesn't mean it's moral for a modern human to do so. (Sorry if the "moral" part went over your head, I figured you wouldn't understand.)

4. It's okay to kill a plant because plants lack sentience. Salvation Army. Dictionary. 50 cents. Have fun.

5. Vegans sometimes wear leather shoes because they had them in their pre-vegan days and can't afford to simply throw them out. They will buy vegan ones when the first ones wear out.

6. Why would a cow walk on someone else's feet? Are you high?

Are you actually serious?? Are you deranged and delusional because they ran out of Big Macs before you could eat your 315th greasy patty as usual, or did your Mommy send you to your room and you're tired of playing Mario? find out what veganism is and come back when you're not so laughably ignorant, Luigi.

DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK ANIMALS DON'T HAVE FEELINGS?!? HAVE YOU NEVER HAD A PET? YOU PROBABLY ATE IT, DIDN'T YOU?

"Animals that are going to be slaughtered have no bill of rights. Your refusal to eat them is sending no message"
-This is the dumbest thing I have heard thus far. By your logic it would be less inhumane to buy clothes, computers parts, shoes, etc from foreign countries that exploit their workers and make them work long hours for little pay, simply because they do not have the same rights as people in other countries.

"humans have been eating meat since the beginnign of time"
-Humans may have been eating meat for a long time(the beginning is debatable), however the amount of meat consumption, the process by which they are raised and slaughtered has changed significantly. Meat was never meant to be eaten the way it is today(in excess, pumped full of hormones, etc).

"Why is it okay to kill a plant? They must have feelings to."
-Plants do not feel pain. Pain is an evolutionary trait that is used to tell a being that there is danger and that they must flee in order to survive. Since plants have no evolutionary purpose for pain(they cannot defend themselves, or run off) they cannot feel pain. Also, no brain and no nervous system is an indication that something cannot feel pain. People and animals feel pain because nerve endings send signals to the brain.

"And how come you can wear your leather shoes"
-Vegan do not wear leather. They can however keep leather product that they purchased before becoming vegan. Fake leather looks quite a bit like real leather these days. Just because vegans you see are wearing belts, shoes or use purses, does not mean that it has leather. There are many places to buy leather/animal free products.

"Do you seriously think animals have feelings"
-Empathy is something that people learn. It has been proven that people who cannot empathize with others feelings(including animals) are more likely to become sociopaths. This is why one of the warning sign that your child is has sociopathic leanings, is if they abuse animals. Although I am sure you are saying this simply for shock value, it does give insight into the type of person you may be.

I can't say I am surprised you "just don't get it". Although it doesn't take a genius to be able to understand someone else's view; it does, on occasion take maturity(which seems to be something you lack)

okay..

#1.. vegans are not all hippies.. they are just people who don't like the thought of animals being killed and tortured for our gluttony.. Many are preachy, over-zealous, and have a superiority complex, but that is not all of them!! Many just live their (much healthier than your) lifestyle quietly and do what they can for the environment, animals, etc..

#2.. i HATE the "okay to kill a plant" question.. The simple biological fact is that humans have to eat SOMETHING.. We have two choices
A. Plants- no centeral nervous system or brain.. this means.. no feeling pain, no emotions, no conciousness, no thoughts.. no feelings.. simple biological fact.
B.. Animals- Have a central nervous system and a brain.. are capable of emotions, feeling pain, self-awareness, thoughts, intelligence (at varying levels).. None of these things are demonstrated at the same level as with humans, but animals do posess them. This can all be proven as simple biological fact.

#3.. Many vegans do try to avoid leather.

#4 Animals definitely have feelings.. You must have never had a pet in yoru life.. Mine definitely show fear under certain circumstanses. This is an emotion.. a feeling.. Ever read "Where the Red Fern Grows?" a childrens story that most people cry at the end when the boy's dog gets killed and his other dog is so sad it doesn't eat and dies.. Yes, it's just a story.. but here's the kicker.. the EXACT SAME THING happened with two dogs we had one time.. Someone shot one, it died.. THe other one starved itself to death, despite our best efforts to do what we could.. IT was grieving, the emotions were there, they were obvious.. I have seen distinctive emotions MANY times with every pet we've owned..

Cows, Pigs, and sheep are no different from Cats and Dogs. THey are intelligent (to a point) and capeable of emotion.. People just don't like to think about it when they're chomping their big-mac..

I'm not tellng you how to eat, I'm just telling you which statements you have made are completely wrong..

first of all, true VEGANS do not wear leather at all. Every vegeterian/vegan saves 95 lives a year.....i'm not a hippie, but it wouldn't bother me if i was called one...i think that the reason people stop eating meat (other than it's a disgusting habit) because we as humans have evolved past the barbaric way in which animals are slaughtered.....you can also go to this website and give them your questing

Oooh, somebody clearly got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Or maybe it's something you ate.

I'm not about to explain myself to someone who doesn't have the courtesy of asking me politely why I live the way I do. And the "what about the plants" question is older than the hills. For Gaia's sake, get a grip.

By the way, as a meat eater, you kill far more plants than vegans do. You see, those animals you eat have to eat something, and that would be 70 percent of the grains growin the U.S. It takes roughly 3 pounds of grain to produce a pound of chicken's meat and 15 pounds of grain to produce a pound of cow's meat. And except for Atkins devotees, everyone eats some plant matter--vegetables, fruits, etc. So you don't care about the plants, you just want to justify eating animals.

I'm not a hippie, generalizing and stereotyping is stupid. What does it prove if humans have been eating meat since the beggining of time? People have been killing eachother since the beggining of time, that doesn't justify anything.Plants aren't sentient beings like animals are.I don't waer leather, neither would any vegan.

"If I was a cow I would rather be eaten and digested, instead of walking around on someone's smelly feet for a year. explain that?"

Okay? WTF was that about?

Watch this and then tell me that animals do not have feelings

Millions of starving men, women and children in third world countries have no bill of rights either. Should we torture and murder them as well? I'm sure that a number of people would pay good money for the opportunity to test out their favorite assault weapons on emaciated Ethiopians. Does that make it right?

Sorry, humans haven't even been around since the beginning of time. We have been around since before the beginning of history, but we have also been murdering each other and sexually abusing those that are weaker than us as long as we have been eating dead animals. I suppose that makes it all acceptable since we have been doing all these things for so long, huh?

despite a guy or woman eats is an argument of decision. some human beings like pork, others do no longer. the sole guy or woman who can rather tell a guy or woman to function/subtract a food from a food plan may well be a knowledgeable healthcare provider.

It is hypocricy. Before Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, they were naked. When they ate the forbidden fruit, they realized they were naked, and they were ashamed. To fix it, God Himself sacrificed animals for their skins. The symbolism was the shedding of blood for forgiveness, but for the sake of THIS discussion, the point is: God killed animals for man's use. If it's good enough for God, then I say pass me a steak...

actually, lots of vegans don't wear leather -- especially the ones who are vegan based on principle. people who are vegan for health reasons may not sweat about using other animal products.
the other day, i was grilling hot dogs at a baseball game, and one of the little girls whose folks are on the team wanted one. i told her she had to ask her dad first. big mistake -- everybody on the team ending up listening awkwardly to his fifteen minute attempt at explaining to a three year old why she's not allowed to eat meat. he actually pointed at my dog and said "it'd be like smooshing that doggie up and eating her. would you want to do that?" it was charming. poor kid.
