nope, it's what's rendered from the assorted connective tissues of an animal..you know that stuff that looks like jello that's left over when you boil a chicken? That's gelatin..the yellow lumps when the broth is cooled is fat. Gelatin good - fat bad, but tasty.

Well, i know that most gelatin is made from some kind of animal part....which is why jews that keep kosher avoid gelatin, as do Muslims b/c they dont eat pork, and most of the time it's made from pig. However, if you have a problem with eating gelatin that comes from an animal, it's not so hard (depending on where u live) to find kosher or halal gelatin, and that's usually made from a non-animal source. Also, if you really want to make sure ur not eating gelatin from an animal, and u eat a food that contains gelatin, u can always call the company and ask =)
ex: rice krispy treats have gelatin, but it's not made from pork, so it is halal =D
(however, u might not be asking for dietary reasons....so sry if i went on too long abt that)

Most gelatin is made from rendered animal parts, particularly the inedible ones. (Squeeze every last dime out of an innocent animal's death, why dontcha.) That being said, there is an ever increasing number of products on the market made with vegetable-based gelatin. I find that looking for Kosher gummies and gelatin is the best way to avoid accidentaly eating boiled pig tendons.

Gelatin is a protein produced by partial hydrolysis of collagen extracted from the bones and connective tissues of animals such as the domesticated cattle, pigs and horses. The natural molecular bonds between individual collagen strands are broken down into a form that rearranges more easily. Gelatin melts when heated and solidifies when cooled again. Together with water, it forms a semi-solid colloid gel.

Gelatin is not made of animal fat. It is collected by boiling the bones and remaining connective tissue and then processing the substances that pollute the water. Gelatin is always from dead animals. There is no such thing as vegetarian gelatin and there never will be. There are great alternatives such as agar-agar and carrageenan but they are not types of gelatin

Gelatin is made out of bones, and hooves of usually pigs or sometimes other animals.
Kosher geltain "K Kosher because it is derived from the pure, inedible collagen of beef hide" says the yogurt company I used to purchase from.
Then some gelatin is from agar agar.

No. It is not made of fat.

When collagen breaks down, it produces gelatin.

So it is still an animal product, but nope: not fat.
