If you go for a physical they usually do a general health panel and urinalysis. The GHP includes a comprehensive metabolic profile (electrolytes, liver enzymes, blood sugar). Complete blood count (white cells, red cells, hemoglobin, hematacrit), and Thyroid stimulating hormone. The only time they check for STD's is if you request it or they think its necessary from the history that you gave. HIV testing requires a signed consent form that is explained to you in detail so you would have known if they tested you for that. Some STD's do require a genital swab, which you would have obviously known about if it were collected.

As a healthcare provider I can tell you .....no. I do not run these tests without reason or the patients knowledge. HIV testing requires written consent. Most tests are blood and/or urine tests. HPV for females requires a cervical swab (usually done with pap test). I never give out these results over the phone...patients must return to the office for results.

NO a regular physical does not include STD testing. For one you need to sign a consent ans waiver form and second, those require different tests depending if your a male or female.
