To be politically correct you can't say 'Mexican' or 'Chinese' anymore. Say 'Latin American' or 'Asian'.
No saying 'Ribs' - now it's 'Porcine Flank'!
For 'American' you can say 'Freedom Food'!

No, they say let's go to Mc Donald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Domino's, Tony Roma's, Friday's, Subway, Wendy's, or any other American food chain found all over the planet. Or just say the type of food.
Went we want Chinese food we say: Vamos a comer chino. (even though it's grammatically wrong and only applies to chinese food)
If we want italian food: vamos a comer comida italiana.

Oh this is a good question!!!
Actually, there is a BIG difference between MEXICAN and LATIN AMERICAN FOOD. Just like there is a big difference between CHINESE and KOREAN or JAPANESE food.
When we want to go out and eat American food we say "Let's go out and eat."
Since we are in America, we don't say let's go eat American Food... but since we're not in China or Mexico or any other country that's the reason why we do say "Let's go eat Chinese, etc..."

What do you consider "american" food?
Hamburgers? When mexicans want hamburgers, they say they want to go out for a hamburger, or they say I want to go to_______ (the name of the hamburger restaurant).
Roast beef? They have roast beef there too. They order that if the menu offers it. Roast beef isn't american...it is also English/ european.
If they want french fries, they order papas fritas. Again...not exclusively an american food.
They also eat hot dogs. They are called salchichas in Mexico. They don't call that american food either.

If they live here they probably just say lets go to applebees in spanish, lol, what is "american" food anyways, we are the melting pot of so many different types of food. I would hate to say that "fast food" is what we are known for, but that would probably be a correct assumption.

I guess it depends on what kind of food you want to eat. My husband's mexican and I'm puerto rican. When we want to eat a specific food we just say, "Let's go get some burgers." or "Let's go eat italian food." or "Let's go get some chinese food."

Chinese people are usually small and petite. You seldom see and overweight one. Hmmmmmmmm Do not think I ever have. When in a Chinese restaurant when they are taking break they eat big bowls of rice or noodles. So I would think that maybe Chinese only eat Chinese. Then I have seen many Mexicans at Chinese Buffets or McDonald's.

Sometimes. My friends' parents would say, "Vamos a comer comida Americana." And it's usually to let us know she's not cooking and that she's probably going to order pizza or have someone grill burgers and hot dogs. : )
