The selected Sankaracharyas can longer remain silent. any further delay will destroy Hinduism for ever. they must denounce their caste by birth in public and allow a healthy debate.

dear sunflower, you ought to educate yourself. the Popes, the Maulavies, Dalai LAMAS, are not by descent ( by birth ). It is the so called sankaracharyas of t Marhs etc are by birth and glorified as the custodians of Hindu traditions.

all that i can in defence that let get the lineage of the Sankaracharyas of the sevaral Peetha, the Maths nad such religious places. All are brahmin first. the so called tedious process you are highlighting is restricted to chosen few. to end caste system and it's ill effect, before we claim to super power in the world order, those Sankaracharyas must denounce castes by birth, get their so called sacred thread torn in public and step down to enable the enormous donated fund , land for nation building.

Caste by Birth..Yes this has to be abolished,
But Caste by Work and Qualities(which is actual definition of Caste System).. It will always be there.
It is there in every society - Priestly or Intellectual Class, Warrior or Administrative class, Business or Manager Class and Working or Labor Class...
The instant you get degree you start begging for Job. You are devastated when you don’t have a job. This is Labor class mentality. You want to make every one equal but where is equality?
Politicians will rule and Police and Army will continue to fight.
Business man will always be there and people interested to server them will also always be there.
You may want to abolish Priestly Class, remove all temples, but people who are actually interested in God worship will always be there.
Caste system was designed to assign proper dos and don’ts to these classes for proper running of the society. Now people in India are made to work like donkeys and they are happy in name of advancement.

This is a clear misunderstnding that the scrd thred is a mark of the castes .If some one who is nt a hinduand knows nothng about Hinduism thinks or says so , itis not going to be the the truth.the asker shoul dknow that Vaniyas, chettiars , the merchant communities , All smiths , (gold smiths , balck smiths , carpenter , the karnams allwear the sacred threat .so it is not a caste mark .the bais of yur thought is totally wrong .the wearing of the thread is a mark that the person would taken a vow (sangalpa) to abide by the way of dharma and his sacred duty .
In the modern world when yu assume office yu take a pledge that you woul duphold law and order and the constitution etc .Do you all do that ?
if the people assuming oiff9ice are doing it whre is th eneed for any one subject ot agitae and demonstrae for anything ?
so WIHOUT DELY YOU DENOUCE YU R MISIMPRESSIOIN AND WRON NOTIONS AND TAKE A VOW BY WERING THREAD THAT YOU WOULD NOT DENOUNCE ANYTING ING WITHOUT EGVEN HAVING AN IOTA OF KOWLEDGE OF WHAT IT IS .JUST LIKE THE SENILE KARUNANIDHI .P;EASE FOR THE SAKE OF HUMANITY AND FAIRNESS TRY TO MED IF POSSIBLE .
Condemn nothig without evenknowing what it is .never get into the still waters without sounding the depth as still waters run VERY DEEP.

It should be changed under the following circumstances. Due to wear and tear, it may get soiled or worn out or gets broken and needs to be changed. One should not wear a broken or worn out Yagnopaveetham. On the day of Upakarma that falls once in a year. After Sutakam (birth impurity) and Asaucham (death impurity) period. After visiting the Cremation Ground, or touching a Corpse, or carrying a corpse. After touching a woman during her monthly periods. After getting a sarvanga shaving or a hair-cut by a barber. If for some reason, the sacred thread is lost or slips off, it should not be reused. A new sacred thread (that has been got as prasad from Yagnopaveeteswara) should be worn. ======================================... Baby Beauty

Cast system in Hindus is a vice. It is not advocated in any of scriptures. It was the system developed and sustained by vestsed interests of the society. It has no religious sanction.
Any way Hinduism is the only religion in the world which is susceptible to reason and change. And this is the only factor which would lead it to new heights, where as other religions, opposed to any change, are destined to die a natural death.

What is your problem, lol? I have been reading your questions for quite a while now. Why don't you suggest tht the Pope,Christian priests or Maulavis denounce their caste by birth in public to protect their respective religions and invite healthy debates? Why are you targetting Hinduism and Shankaracharyas alone?
Each follower of a particular religion has the right and previlege to practise what he believes in,as long as it does not pose a problem to others. Also,No religion is foolproof, impregnable or immortal. Each religion has its plus and minus points.
So,think twice before asking such foolish questions and making yourself a laughing stock !

you are right my friend.
you take example from the Mahabharat where Eklavya(a sudra caste) is more powerful in archery than Arjun(from a warrior caste.
being given the right opportunity at the right time anyone from any caste and background can perform miracles in anything they undertake.
it is not neccessary for someone from a specific caste to have monopoly on certain jobs or knowledge.
in the ramayana you can get more examples. in fact if you notice well you can see that people of different caste and background helped Lord Rama to accomplish his mission.
so we all need each other.
if some foolish hindus could understand this.

Great answer by infinity.
Brahmin means a person who realised Brahman or god.
Sacred thread and tuft is just a symbol to prepare yourself to Brahman wood. To make you remember that you are on the path and whenever you leave the path, it will make you to come back.
We human beings are ignorant and tend to do many mistakes.
So the one who have sacred thread and tuft need not call himself as brahmin.
He can call himself as brahmin when he realise the truth.
But really a realised person will not call himself as brahmin because he knows the truth(ie all are the manifestation of god or almighty)
I am a brahmin by birth, society making me to tell my caste.
Caste system is not by birth it is by the work.
We respect everyone and everything.
Only in Hinduism, animate and inanimate things are treated as manifestation of god and equal.

By this question you have HIGHLIGHTED your Himalayan ignorance. The Shankaracharya Designate first performs the last rites for himself (that he is "dead" and perform his own last rite rituals)-His parents(especially mother) will weep profoundly at that time.each and Every parent would PRAY that their son is Not summoned to take over Shankaracharya position. Then he belongs to no caste-Varnam -During the course of the ceremoney he removes his "Sacred Thread' and ties it in a cloth,& he never wears it till his lifetime. You please go to India and see all Shankaraacharyas. He will not fall at the feet of anybody including his Biological father(which is considered very "unfortunate" for a person that he could not touch his father's feet and take his blessings.,-but hecan touch only the feet of his biological mother and Guru(Sahnkaracharya incumbent),who initiated him to "Sanyastha"(Ascetic Life)>Shankaracharya' biological father should fall at the feet of Shankaraacharya and take his blessings. All the Family members will perform last rites for him (that he is "dead") and remove his name from their "Family Clan"---these are all very "Pathetic sights"-not enjoyable- when Shankaraacharya takes over the ascetic life.It is why the mother of ORIGINAL Shankaracharya was not willing to lose her only Son from the family clan and sacrifice him to Ascetic life. Shankaracharya's daily life is also very ardous
