You can last as long as you want to. I've quit within the last 2 weeks too, after my 1st cousin, a lifetime smoker, learned she's dying of cancer. Sheer willpower is what aided me. I've tried to quit like 4 times before without success. Buy yourself some regular chewing gum, mints, candy, etc. to satisfy the oral fixation.

You can do it. You've only smoked for about 3 years. Quit NOW! Don't be like me and try to quit after you've been smoking for 30 years. It's a lot harder to do. Good luck to you.

i stopped smoking when I was 19 (i started at 13). I am now 35 and havent touched a single one. I did it " cold turkey". No patches or gum. I just tried to look at it an hour at a time. Id say " ok, I've gone 1 hour so I'll try and go for another hour etc. I must admit I found it pretty easy but failed on several attempts before. It is hard but you really need to want to stop or you wont. Patches and stuff do help but its the willpower that really helps. Try not imagining your life without a cigarette and try and keep your hands busy cos sometimes its just the habit rather than actually nicotine cravings. Keep active - go for a walk in the fresh air or brush your teeth. Once you have nice fresh breath you wont want a cig. I used to eat sugar free mints or chewing gum. And dont worry about putting on a few pounds, you can lose them once you get rid of the cigs. Good luck

The question you want to ask yourself is are you trying to just quit, or are you looking for a alternative to smoking? I started using a e cig to quit smoking, I haven't had a real cigarette in 6 months. I still enjoy the feeling of nicotine, and I make all my own e liquids, and atomizers. The nicotine dose can be dropped gradually if you are trying to get away from the addiction. Personally I love it it, I didn't actually have a desire to quit smoking, but smoking does kill, and vaping just taste so much better. Nicotine itself does not cause cancer, but all the flavors are food grade. There are no studies showing how safe vaping food flavorings is. So an e cig may just prolong your addiction if you like it too much. But is a wonderful way to go if you get one that works well it will curb the urge.

Good luck!! I gave up on 10th December 2005 - cold turkey like you and I havent had a cigarette since so it can be down. It is good that you are surrounded with other non smokers so that you are not being tempted by other people's smoke.

You will be v. bad tempered for the first couple of days and you will probably have a pounding headache as well. This is just the nicotine leaving your body and then it gets a bit easier as time goes on.

Good luck for your nanna as well

Just think of what the inside of your Nans lungs look like right now - black, inflamed and raw. You are only 20, you are not physically hooked on smoking, it is all in your head. Stop talking about it, just become a non smoker. It has amazed me over the years how many members of my family could not (would not) give up until they were diagnosed with either cancer or heart disease - suddenly they managed to give up easily. All smokers think it isn't going to happen to them, well it does and when it does it is your own fault. To answer your question: you will last a lot longer without a cig.

25 years ago I packed up after smoking 40 a day and then going on to 1/2 oz tobbaco a day if you can go a day without a cig then youcan go two days and so on its not easy but if you have the willpower you can stop and youn will be a lot better for it in health and cash ;
juast imagine when you want a cig that you are burning a £5 note it helps

The cravings come from you, not from outside. They'll go away if you are determined to stop wasting your life and money on cigarettes.
Just chuck 'em away and don't do it any more.

how long you will go without one depends on how bad you want to quit.
