No, the LDS do NOT NOT NOT teach the same thing as the FLDS.

The sect you are referring to are not LDS or Salt Lake mormons. You're referring to the Fundementalist Latter Day Saints or FLDS. Not the same church at all. Warren Jeffs has no affiliation with the LDS.

polygamy is pretty stupid (1 wife is MORE than enough) but it's not the worst sin i have ever seen a theist perform. I would probably rate killing in the name of god as pretty serious.
