Find a church that doesn't have its own little rituals or rules about certain things, for STRICTLY sticking to the Bible is important. If you want a church that STICKS to what the Bible says, I would recommend, like what "Someaesthesia" said, a Non-Denominational church that is considered Christian because of their sticking to the Bible. Getting into branches is dangerous. For the most part, branches imply a 'founder' who is human - Not Jesus - which could possibly have added beliefs. I would stick to a church that refers to itself as a Non-Denominational Christian church, for I have found that it does not astray from the teachings of Jesus.

I was brought up in and remain a believer in the Church of England, but the only religion I can think of that "puts it's money where it's mouth is" as you might say, is the Salvation Army.

I have known quite a few members of the Salvation Army and have always found them genuine in their beliefs.

The RC church abhors homosexuality, rightly so, because the Bible states it is an abomination, but at the same time it's preachers of all levels, sexually abuse children.

The C.of E. just go along with the tide, they condone homosexuality to a degree when once again the bible states it is an abomination.

The C of E is no longer what it was meant to be and was for hundreds of years, although it had another God - MONEY.

The thing to remember is that there are as many different kinds of Bibles as there are churches. So essentially, they can all be different, all claim to be following the Bible, and still all be telling the truth.

There is no such thing as the perfect church and that church would be deceiving others if they were to say that they were the church that has it all right - in which case steer clear!

In anycase you should ask to read the mission statement, and go to the church a few times and pray about how you feel about the church and use your discernment as to whether it is the right place for you to be.

Theres not one specific church that follows the Bible, thats why its important to find a good church that only teaches what is in the Bible. I am lucky enough to have found one that simply refers to themselves as "a non-denominational bible teaching church".

Duno if you'd call it a church, but Jehovah's Witnesses spend no end of time reading, studying and trying to fully understand the Bible. And while I doubt anybody really follows the teachings of the Bible perfectly I reckon that crew do as good a job of it as is humanly possible.

They impress the bejeebus out of me, and I'm a complete atheist.

If any church claims to have it all perfect they are deceiving themselves. The best we can do is interpret the scriptures using reason and intelligence, and ask the Spirit to guide us. God does still talk to his church through prophets, in words and pictures, so those who listen to him and act on his guidance will do okay.
I belong to a new frontiers church, we seek to bring church back to how it was in the beginning, as per the book of Acts.

There is no one church that follows the Bible exactly. In my opinion the church that follows the Bible most accurately would be the Catholic Church. Up until the 80's, in the UK, women wore mantillas (head coverings) in church, this was part of Catholic doctrine as well as being stated in the Bible that women should cover their hair when praying and in church. However, Catholics don't follow everything as stated in the Bible, but that is true for most if not all Christians.

I was brought up SDA......stay away, it's a cult as is the Mormons and JWs.....they will bleed you dry as well as bore you and make you wear a shirt and tie to church. Catholic churches are OK if you like falling to sleep. Find somewhere which is lively and you see healings, signs and wonders. This is confirmation by God that He is there.

Hi William, Good question.
From my investigations over my lifetime I have only found ONE that even comes close and abides by the rule that the Bible should be its own interpreter.
This church does not have a creed because it is open to new light as the Scriptures are better understood.
It does not set dates for the 2nd Coming and follows the original day of worship instituted at Creation by the Creator, that being the 7th day.
They believe in the forgiveness of sin through the only Mediator, Jesus Christ, and that a sinner is saved by grace through faith in the atoning blood of Jesus.
They do not believe in an eternally burning hell or eternal torment of the wicked.
They understand that Judgement of God's people began in 1844.
They do not believe that when you die you go straight to heaven or hell, but remain until the resurrection promised by Jesus.
They encourage healthful living and do not tolerate alcohol, tobacco or the use of narcotics (except where prescribed for medical purposes).
They encourage a day by day relationship with the Saviour through daily Bible study and prayer. They do not believe that you are once saved always saved.
They are a worldwide organisation with a membership of over 21 million.
They operate hospitals and medical facilities in many countries and provide aid programs in needy countries through ADRA and have missionaries in all but a handful of countries throughout the world.
Their members are not perfect and you will find some more sincere in their beliefs than others.
That church is The Seventh-day Adventist Church.
God Bless,
H'chat.
