"Happy the man who shall seize and smash your little ones against the rock!" (Psalms 137:9, New American Bible)
Deanna Laney bashed in her childrens brains with a rock as ordered by GOD.
TYLER, Texas - A jury on Saturday began deliberating whether a homemaker was insane when she used rocks to bludgeon two of her sons to death and severely injure a third after receiving what she claimed were orders from God.
He recounted Joshua's killing: "He got strike after strike after strike on his head to the point that his brains were coming out of his head like liquid."
Defense attorney began her argument by asking the jury why a DEEPLY RELIGIOUS woman would kill two of her children and maim another without so much as a tear.
Laney, who home-schooled her children in the tiny town of New Chapel Hill, 100 miles southeast of Dallas, was convinced she was divinely CHOSEN by God to kill her children last Mother's Day weekend.

When will people learn to stop taking things out of there original context...

Well, the woman was clearly disturbed. I think that has more to do with her killing her kids than the bible in this instance.
She might have just as easily become obsessed with "Alive" and eaten them. there are a multitude of other reasons for someone to kill. Each of them is bizarre and unjustifiable. Murder is a heinous act. But I doubt that I would have ever heard about this one if there hadn't been a religious spin.
But hell, why not? Let's put an advisory label on the bible and everything else even more explicit than the bible. People will still kill each other. There's no way to make the world safe from murderous psychotics. They will continue to kill and then invent justification for their acts after the fact. It's a historical truth even older than the bible. No amount of censorship will stop it.

No, and you misquoted the verse. It's ACTUALLY (quoting 8 AND 9 for context):
O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,
happy is he who repays you
for what you have done to us-
he who seizes your infants
and dashes them against the rocks.
And all of Psalms 137 is a lamentation. This, my friend, is why people should not spout off on something they know nothing about. Why don't you pick up the Bible and read for yourself instead of letting other people do your thinking for you?

Sigh! There is a difference between "deeply religious" and insanity. Trying to understand the insane (dare I say demon-possessed) is futile.
Anyone can read a book (any book, not just the Bible) and choose just a sentence here or there to make issue or insanity pleas out of it - they can make it mean whatever they want. Thant's one of the reasons we are to STUDY the word of God, not just pick out a line here or there and say we know it all.
Christians reading this - pray for the woman, for God to soften her heart & open her ears to His will. Pray the enemy will be bound from continuing to control her mind.

All this REALLY means is that children who won't obey should be punished and it should not be taken literally. This is a civilized society and we no longer stone people to death. Did they put a disclaimer on the Koran when Muhammad-the child molester-took a 7 year old wife?

Maybe there should be a warning label on rocks.
This story makes me nauseous. I would never hurt my baby, even for god, allah, yahweh, jehovah or the FSM.

There are a lot of stupid, and/or demon possessed people running around.
Do you seriously think a 'warning label' would have stopped this severely deranged woman?

Yes. And it should say: "reader beware, you're about to be bored more than you could ever imagine!"
That's honest advertising.
