Matthew 8
8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
8:30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.
8:31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
8:32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

POOR LITTLE PIGGIES!!! What did the piggies do to Jesus, to deserve to be drowned in the ocean???? ...but ok - further in the text, the villagers didn't like Jesus much after this stunt of his, and asked him to leave.

The Bible is man made and while the author of that story might have had cruel thoughts/actions towards pigs it is not representative of Jesus.

Caz you are wrong! Animals do infact have a soul and they will be in spirit the same as people. I sincerly hope you don't have any pets now or in the future with thinking like that!

Go back and read the text. It said: he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine

Your question should be directed about the demons not Jesus. He told them to go, they chose where.

it wasnt Jesus that wanted the demon to go into the pigs
but the demon themself. They were terrified of Jesus.
They wanted to get away fom him as quick as they could
Im guessing that the demon for some reason needed to
have some type of pysical body to poses thus they were sent int the pigs.We are not given the reason but they reason i give could be a very likely explination..They possed the man for years and prob in habited other people before that.
The pigs ran off the cliffs becuse of the demon trying to
get awy from Jesus. They didnt want to hang around to see waht Jesus was going to do.Just tell you how powerful Jesus was even when he partly human.

The pig was a filthy animal that was not to be eaten or touched by the Israelites.

And why are you crying oh poor little piggies when you had pepperoni pizza last night?

Basically, the demons named their poison. All Jesus did was tell them, "Go."

Jesus ended up delivering those pig farmers from the problem of the guy who would beat them whenever they approached that area.

Perhaps they prayed," Oh God! Deliver me from my problems, but let me keep my pigs!"

Too bad for them!

Animals have a purpose, to be the creatures under man.
Humans have a purpose, to be the creatures under God.

These pigs were a very hot 'black market' item on the other side of the Lake, in the Jewish area! The Jewish people were sinning by eating this pork. Jesus solved the problem, in a very straighforward manner!

I understand that pork is today the hottest 'black market' item in Israel still.......

I too have wondered about that as well as many other things in the Bible. I finally realized the Bible was written by men, not God. Therefore it is just a record of how people thought 2000 years ago, nothing more than that.

The demons chose the piggies, not Jesus,

God created animals, & he says"blessed is the man who is merciful to his beast.'.

Yes,sometimes whenhe did perform a miracle, they did ask him to leave, even when they asked him to.

people are'scared'of things they dont know about, like dieing for instance.

I don't think it was different, I would kill a pig to save a man and I'm not a perfect God...not only that I love bacon.

Don't you care that he rescued a man from life-long enslavement & torment by demons? Or do you care more about animals than people?

And yes, the villagers asked Jesus to leave because the pigs were their livelihood - they cared more about the animals than the man's life too...
