Which English sentence is correct?

This is the sofa where she kissed me.

or

This is the sofa on which she kissed me.

Don't give yourself a headache. They're both grammatically correct.

First one. A sofa is close enough to a place.
Second one makes it sound like the sofa is part of your body.
I suppose it should really be, "This is the sofa on which we were sitting when she kissed me". Well, I'm Canadian, so I think you should say "chesterfield" or at least "couch".

Proper english would refer to, "This is the sofa on which she kissed me." However, if you are educated with american english, "This is the sofa where she kissed me," is also correct.
The difference is which one are you going to use? Proper english or American english? If you are using it for school assignment on an essay, then I would suggest that you use the second sentence, if you are using it for a homework or something that would not be checked for an admission, then use the first sentence.
No matter what, you should use proper english, it would tell others that you are more educated, even if you are in America.

They are both technically correct. That said, the second one makes you sound like a foreigner with a perilous grasp of the language, or else someone with a serious corncob.
