I do not. Under the Old Law it was an eye for an eye, but under the New Covenant sealed in Christs blood we are to love our enemies.

Let them live kept away from society, and give them the chance to hopefully one day genuinely repent and seek God's forgiveness.

Oregon Flower, an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth would make the entire world blind and filled with drooling people.
Taking a life is wrong, no matter who does it. Capital punishment is nothing more than a state-sanctioned murder. No different in principle from any other murder. A great society is judged by how it treats its most wretched members. We must do better. Most nations in the world have abolished capital punishment decades ago. We are in an enviable company of countries like South Africa and Gambia.
Capital punishment in Illinois was abolished when it was found out ELEVEN death row inmates were innocent. Would you like to be the one who executes an innocent human being ?
Kindness and compasion is the answer, not death.
Christians embrace the light of love, not the darkness of death.

The Bible certainly allows capital punishment. I had always been in favor of it when circumstances warranted the last extreme measure, but DNA testing on deathrow inmates has shown that our 'justice' system gets the wrong guy 1/3 of the time!!

In other words, we would be executing the wrong person 33% of the time, and that is unacceptable! I oppose the death penalty in the United States, because our 'justice' system is so deeply flawed......

No.
Life imprisonment will suffice, if they are indeed guilty, and the crime warrants permanent removal from society.

The Lord Jesus Christ himself forbade violence in all circumstances. There are Christian-haters that try to say differently, quoting Luke 19:27. But what they fail to tell you is that they are quoting only the last line of a metaphorical PARABLE about a regent which Jesus was telling to others. It is called the Parable of the Ten Minas, and is short enough to read in a minute: Luke 19: 11-27
It becomes quite obvious that Jesus was not advocating violence.

And Christian law comes from the gospels only. It is not found in the Old Testament. Jesus is the highest teacher. Paul was just a fallible man, just as fallible as any of us. But the Lord was perfect.

Be well.

No Way ! A real disciple of Jesus cannot Judge or kill anyone for any reason. You would be better off to die rather than do so. Orthodox Christians often miss this point. Most Gnostic Christians know better.

Bless us all anyway

It is hard to imagine that anyone supports executing innocent people. Yet one person (cecilia) who answered your question invites that possibility.

Over 50 people released from death row when their wrongful conviction was uncovered had already more than a decade there. Speeding up the process would guarantee executing innocent people.

No and I never have. I do not believe I have the power within me to say whether a person has the right to live or die ever thought the person that did the act did so him or her self. Just my opinion.

Yes i understand that Jesus said to love your neighbor, but if your neighbor who killed and raped 15 women is sent to jail theres no saying he cant break out and do it again. For crimes that heinous its just more logical to throw out one bad seed so that the rest can have an opportunity to grow.

I don't believe that it is justifiable to murder a murderer. Two wrongs never make one right. Any man as long as he is alive has a chnace of being saved. That said, I believe a LIFE TERM should be a TERM FOR LIFE - no paroles, no exceptions.

The Government has the authority of law to execute persons for capitol offenses. Christianity has NOTHING to do with it.
