It ususally has to do with the shape of the person's eye. The clear part that covers the iris (coloured part) of the eye is called the cornea, and if it's too curved or not curved enough, things look blurry. Also, if the cornea is not evenly curved, you get blurring in part of the field of vision, this is called astigmatism. Behind your pupil is your lens, and if this can't bend well enough, you have trouble focussing your eye3s, lots of people get this as they get older, and that's why they wear reading glasses. Finally, if your whole eyeball is too short or too long, instead of being perfectly round, things look blurry. These are partially inherited from your family, but you can have bad eyes even if nobody else in your family does.

I need glasses because the curvature of my eyeballs makes it impossible for me to focus clearly on objects more than about eight inches away from my face. I don't know why I'm like this because nobody in my immediate family has it. All I can say is that I've been this way since I was 10 years old and my older daughter also has this problem.

I need glasses because I have a Genetic curve in my left eye called astigmatism, if my left eye was perfect I would not need corrective lenses at all.

It's a genetic defect with there eyes. Some one in the families past(more then likely one or both of their parents) had weak eyes and the inherited that trate.

because wen we is younger we get glasses and then we dont wear them and our eyes get worse and stuff. But seriously it has something to do with nerves in your eye..i think..
