Theres this girl I've liked for a year and I've been thinking to tell her how I feel. She used to be interested in me a long time ago but I ignored her because I never knew who she was, she then went out with another guy but they broke up and but now I realized how beautiful she was but I'm so very terrified that she would reject me because I've never experienced rejection before and I know it hurts a lot. I'm her best friend but what are the odds that she would reject me? I don't see any signs of her interested in me, but she seems a bit shy though.

If you are romantically interested in her then don't treat her like a buddy. Cause then, that's all you two will ever be is just friends. Take it to a higher level...... she's probably waiting for you to do just that. And if not, then so what?! As adults, we all have to face rejection sooner or later. When you get turned down for a job you really wanted, etc. Just don't take it personally. There are lots and lots of reasons you may/may not get turned down. But if you expect to be rejected, you probably will be. So, move on up and out of the negative thinking....... to the positive thinking level. It's so much better.

After I got out of college, my best friend broke up with her boyfriend. We went from being best friends to being "buddies".

In the end we broke up. I lost my best friend and my girl friend in 1 fell swoop.

Are you ready to take the chance that the same thing will happen to you?

Given the chance I'd do it again. So I say go for it.

Yes, it's normal to be afraid of rejection, but the feeling seems to be stronger in guys than in girls. You should ask her out if she seems shy - that is always a giveaway that she likes you and would date you!
