Hey i need help with a physics project

I have to make a device that can travel one meter and carry 1 kg of mass...

so the basic thing is

u set it down ( u can do something but cant push it ) and then it has to travel one meter carrying 2 pounds ...

any ideas?

no battery/electric,gas,rocket powered objects

i was thinking something elastic ? ( but of course not necessary )
please help if u know

The classic solution is the rubber band powered propeller airplane.

Create a 3 wheeled cart. The front wheel is the drive wheel and it must have a rubber band attached to it near its center. The other end must be firmly attached to the cart and the arraignment has to run perpendicular to the direction of travel.

You wind up the rubber band and release it then as it unwinds it turns the wheel pushing the cart forward. It will probably want to curve so you might want to counter that in the final design. Or just say the heck with it and force your teacher to measure the circumference traveled.

Here is another version; a 4 wheeled cart that has a 3 meter string tied to a weight. Build a 1.5 meter tall stand with an axle on it. Lay the cart on the ground 1 meter away from the stand then cut the string so that it barely hangs over the axle. Then drop the string and the falling weight will pull the cart forward. It isn't a car, but it works with only gravity.

For a third idea build a large ramp and a cart to carry the weight, then put the cart on the ramp and let gravity do its work. If the teacher requires your cart to run on the ground then build a second cart with a 1.2 kg weight in it and put it on the ramp, tie it to the first cart and let that string pull it.

Your conditions are too vague; for example you can buy a radio controlled, battery powered car, and tie it to the cart and use it to pull the cart the required distance. You just need to make sure you batteries are fully charged and that the car can pull 1 kg. Your cart isn't powered it is only towed.

For that matter you can place the cart and tow it yourself by pulling on a string. Since that is so easy and simple there must be more to the problem then you have said.

1. Either create a engine that meets your requirements
2. Displace the engine or power source and tie it with a string.

Make a little toy wagon out of what ever you feel can carry the mass (a shoe box-baking pan, etc.). Use sand for the mass-you can level it out and it won't shift. Build an incline ramp (a see/saw) with rails on it on the side you set the wagon. Then just tilt the see/saw so the wagon moves on it's own, once it is past the piviot point it will pick up momentum and the rest is history.

make a car/moving vehicle that has wheels. think wood and craft wheels. create a ramp to set the vehicle on and block the wheels with a board/latch/pin that is hooked to a pully-like system. The other end of the pully is attached to a platform that moves vertically. The platform starts slanted upward. A heavy ojbect is dropped on the platform which causes the pully rope to tighten as the platform lowers. The rope from the pully releases the pin and your vehicle moves as gravity pulls it down your ramp.

I'm surprised that no one said mouse trap, a new unused one of course. You may have to attach it to another board for more space. the idea is to use the force of the spring to pull a string that is wrapped around one of the axles that spins with the wheels.

blow up a balloon and attach it to the vehichle let the air blow out through a straw.
