In all honesty... I do study primarily from the New Testament, because I believe that it is the most applicable part of the Bible for my life. There are times when I look into the OT, especially Proverbs, Psalms, Genesis and Exodus.

Like many others said, we need the OT. The OT prophesies about Jesus and validates his lordship. The OT tells countless stories of people who disobey God and demonstrate the sinfulness and depravity of human beings, even the best like Moses and King David. The OT demonstrates why we need Jesus Christ, proving we are no better than those who disobeyed in the OT.

The OT was amazing the second time around, even the prophetical books like Ezekiel and Amos. As great a book Daniel is, it's also an amazing historical reference of Babylon, Persia, Greece, and the Roman empire I think. It kindof made the movie "300" more enjoyable. I can't wait to go through it again. First time through the OT was quite dry I have to admit. Better the second time.

No. How would I understand Hebrews if I only knew the New Testament? And all the quotes from Paul, Jesus, and Peter who had a reference to the Old Testament throughout what is recorded!

Also we get to see how God thinks in the Old Testament, what has yet to come, how faithful He is, what impresses Him, what He used as types and shadows of things to come. The lists go on! There is so much that is rich in the Old Testament. I sometimes wish my pockets were bigger so that I could carry around the whole thing while I was at work.

Judy's is right. NT is the trump card. But what good is the trump if you don't have a great card to trump? One isn't really great without the other. I like to read what the trump card really says, not what most want it to say.

Some read the NT as if it was the OT. Something not really relating to today. (But, it's hidden and at the same time, self revealing.)

Back 2000 years ago, the NT was the Bomb, we have steadily progressed since then. Back then, Christ said, "There's so much more I want to say to you, but you can't handle it now."

When all things are fulfilled, then what??? "The Latest New?" It's kind of like a product that came out in the market, and the box says, "NEW!" still 20 years later, "NEW!"

But then, I rattle on. It's getting late.

No, In the time of Jesus and the first Christians and the Apostles, all they had was the Old Testiment. The OT Is the Foundation of our beliefs.

No.

The Old Testament is full of prophecies which were fulfilled in the New Testament. All Scripture is God's Word, and is given for correction and instruction in righteousness. One must read, and learn from, the entire Bible. ><>♥<><

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Scripture is what has been thought to be holy since it's inception.

No. Our church does the most awesome thing. We begin at the book of Genesis, and go through to Revelation on Sunday mornings. *lol* I don't mean in one day *lol*....it takes about eight years. And then we start all over again!

I believe all scripture is given by inspiration of God. Although I do relate to the new testament more, so many treasures in the Old as well.

for over 20 years yes, until I came to r and s. Then I seen questions that required me to look there.

I was blessed with the gift of Faith though (which is available to everyone, why God chose me to reveal Himself to, is beyond me) and never looked into the old test.

to be honest, there seemed like a lot of rules there. I was under enough conviction, no need to overburden oneself you know.

with wisdom, comes responsibility. and I am for most parts, irresponsible.

good thing there is that loop hole of forgiveness, or I would be doomed. for a long time.

If you're a follower of Christ its all or nothing, though at different times you might focus on one book or chapter or testament or subject. Just natural.
