There is this big chain store that does Price Matches to any website, as long as it is legit. The store price was $170..I used the price match from legit website and they honored it, got it for $89 :] .. heres the thing, The same day, I felt that I didn't want the item nomore, it was still new/unused, so i went to a another one of the same store, but just diff. city. I somehow misplaced the receipt and lost it, but luckly the store still gives returns, just that it will be in store credit, witch was fine with me as I always go to this big chain store. But they gave me back $170!! I only paid $89 because of the price match from another store, guess they didn't know? The only thing is that they asked for driver license and phone number, I guess it is a routine for returns that cost a lot or returns w/o receits? So I showed ID and everything, everything seemd normal, and i got the $170.. My question is will they somehow track me down?? would they put the time into it? helpp i'm scared~

LOL try using that "it was your mistake" excuse and see where that gets you. I don't think you're going to get caught unless you take stuff back without receipts on a regular basis and give them a reason to look into it, that's why they ask for ID, so they can keep track of how often you do that. Lots of stores will eventually stop returning items without a receipt if you do it too much. The only way you can really get in trouble though is if your method of payment when you bought it the first time was something they could identify you with, like a debit card, check, or credit card.

Personally the guilt of knowing I'd stolen $81 would be enough to confess and make it right. Have you no morals?

i work as a returns cashier and at my store, when you dont have the reciept, it will automaticly give you the lowest selling price the item has ever sold for.... To issue a store credit, we need id, just to prevent returning stolen items. it just tracks what you have returned, not what you have purchased and returned. and it happens... so dont worry about it, its just free for you. haha smile! and for the phone number thing, we use to have to get that info, but i heard it was only to call to see if your serivce was awesome..... or something. but ive never heard of any customers getting a call. i guess its incase something happens with their return. not sure. but dont worry! they wont track you down. and yeah, its cheating the system haha.

Don't sweat it. It wasn't your mistake it was there's. If you feel that bad about it you can return to the store and tell them of the mistake. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

You can be nice to them and take it back or you can just wait and see. The worse thing is that you may have to pay the difference back. Just my thought.

they arent going to track you down but technically it is cheating them, so if you arent worried about karma, then dont sweat it!
