I want to buy indiv. parts (i.e. trigger mech., upper, stock, etc.) to an HK MP5 and put them together. Where can I buy the parts legally? Also w/ out having to obtain any special license(s).

I am gonna assume that your are talking about building semi-auto ones. You can get the individual semi-auto parts off of Gunbroker

Like they've said, the MP5 series of firearms are all pretty dicey for civilian ownership. However, HK cares about it's customers, even those who aren't LEOs, and they've made civilian versions of most of their firearms, including MP5, which are marketed as the HK 94. I'd look at impact, or auction sites, and sometimes cheaper than dirt has HK parts. I'll throw you a manual, too, so you can assess how difficult this project would be.

Also, don't forget about the Lusa firearms, which are similar in function and appearance, and are built on an HK civilian-legal lower receiver, but do have similarities to an Uzi in operation.

Doc has already given you the facts, AND deserves the points. What you purpose is not only ILLEGAL but is in fact a criminal "Felony Class" violation of Federal Law and the Gun Control Act of 1968. You should know the mere "possession" of some of the parts required to make or manufacture such a gun are criminal violations within themselves....You can purchase a completed "existing" weapon, but only by going thru the BATF procedures and filing an application, and purchasing a $200 Tax Stamp. You will also be subject to an extensive background search and will have to submit fingerprint cards as part of this process to show you have no criminal history. NO way around it.......

No. It is part. Buying an upper is no more different than buying a sling, a scope, or a set of quad handguards. If you were 13 - you could walk into any store - tell them you were buying it for your dad, and walk out with one. Anyone whom disagrees - is mis-informed on our federal laws.

You can't.

A machine gun or submachine gun's receiver is treated as a machine gun, and may not be purchased without the proper Class III licenses, stamps, and permits.

Furthermore, it is illegal for any private citizen to purchase or possess a machine gun, submachine gun, or parts to a machine gun or submachine gun if said parts were not made and registered prior to a certain date (which slips my mind) in 1986. Possession of an unregistered machine gun or submachine gun is a Federal felony.

So either make do with a semi-auto MP-5, or pony u the dough to buy a legal full-auto model. It is much cheaper than paying lawyers and spending 5-15 in a Federal Pen.

sorry, you can't. It is illegal to manufacture or import any class 3 firearms thanks to the liberal politicianss that wet their undies at the mention of selecive fire weapons.
You can purchase an existing one, if you can find a class 3 dealer who has one for sale, then you go thru the background check, which can take from 3 months to a year, then if you pass that, you can pay the $200 to get the federal tax stamp and pick up your firearm.
