I feel sad most of the time, but it isn't for no reason. I looked up symptoms for having it on the Internet and I had nine out of eleven symptoms. Also, my grandmother has depression.

Yes, it is possible you are going through depression. For many people, depression is temporary & caused by an external trigger. (minor depression) For others, depression is constant no matter what the circumstances are. (major depression)

If you are having difficulty coping or do not see an end to the feeling of sadness, then seek professional help. Consult your doctor or a counselor.

Self-diagnosis is idiotic, at best. Depression can run in the family, especially on the female side. However, if it doesn't seem to be for "no reason" then you probably don't have it.

EDIT:
Did I say you're an idiot? No. I just said it's stupid to try and diagnose yourself. You need to see a professional if you think that you are suffering from depression. Many people become somewhat of a hypochondriac when they read about stuff like that online.

There are many reasons for people to get sad. But it doesn't mean that depression is the factor causing sadness. Many reasons can be associated with it and if one overcomes them then happiness will overpower sadness. The prime thing is that one has to lead a happy and healthy life because they are the keys for prosperity. And remember there is always room for happiness and good life.

hi, dimples, listen to t-stone. start by going to your family doctor. I suffered with depression for years and nothing helped but antidepressants. not everyone needs medication to overcome their sadness but don't let others bias keep you from getting the help you need. wish i hadn't waited so long. life is so short, don't waste another minute feeling low, cause there is help out there. good luck

See your doctor, to eliminate thyroid problems, etc., as the cause. Many depression treatments, and links, are at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page 2.

Sure sounds like it. I suggest that you see your doctor. He can get you some medication or can refer you to a psychiatrist.
