Some background im a grad in comp science
i will be working for about 2years now by year end in a MNC as a business system analyst. Have learn lotsa business applications like oracle sap unix etc

Was just wondering if it would be good to career move to go in the banking industry ? Would there be any progress or advancement ? Is the renumeration worth it or should i just stick with firms like accenture or etc.

Im asking this because i have many friends who did accounting/finance and are doing really well in investment banks and stuff, also the yearly bonus are so good compared to any IT company. Please advice =P

I spent 18 years in the banking industry, after leaving IBM.
I also worked free-lance for several different insurance co.s.
They use a lot of IT resources, & it's steady work.
But these are very staid industries, not very exciting.

Even a new bank teller moves up to some pretty decent pay in a matter of months. A qualified IT tech working in the banking field would probably be pretty well paid.

You can be one of those techs that fix the ATMs, too, ya know!

The problem with questions like this is that abbreviations are used that are unknown by most of the people reading them. I suggest you drop all abbreviations and spell out the word(s) you are trying to convey.

With a massive recession looming, I would question the security of banking.
