I am catholic and have two sets of godparents.I know in Spanish one is of water (agua) and I'm not sure what the others are. I am obviously not very religious (since I don't know the answer) but I was wondering if that is the case still. My daughter has one set but I would like to add another godfather who does so much for her. Can it happen? Does anyone else have two sets of godparents by the church? Thanks :-)

When your daughter is confirmed, she can ask this other fellow who does so much for her to be her sponsor. Sorta like a godfather, but not quite the same.

You can only have - at most, one male and one female godparent. Any in addition to that are Christian witnesses to the baptism.

Some cultures may have additional 'godparents' but there is only one set on the baptism record in the Church.

Browneyez, please consider attending a Bible Study or adult education class at your parish. It is important for your child to see you participating in religious education. As to the godparents (sponsers), I think the other is of the Spirit (as in Holy Spirit) and is the Confirmation sponsor.
