I made a small, 8x8 Gay fawkes cake from a recipe i found in a Joy of Cooking book. The cake is like a gingerbread, just no cinnamon and more molasses. I want to know what icing to use on it, on that will complement the taste. If anyone has any ideas, plaese post. Oh, and if i had access to a grocery store i would have already bought icing, thank you, but as i son't please don't post about pre-made icing....

Hello dear, this sounds like a cake that only needs either, powdered sugar sprinkled on it, or a glaze made out of powdered sugar and milk, let the taste of the cake shine!!!! If you don't have powdered sugar....do you have some honey, you could cut the cake, and drizzle honey on each slice, and if you don't have honey, what about sliced peaches, and a little of the surp, from the canned peaches,,,,,,,,good luck

try putting some chocolate ganache:

its also from joy of cooking but this time in the internet.

you can also substitute your FAVORITE CHOCOLATE BAR to the chocolate that was listed on the recipe.

if you dont like cognac or brandy, add vanilla instead
