it's just interpretation~
one 'Supreme God' with many aspects...
Christians mock the Hindu and Buddhist beliefs because they don't fully understand the complex beauty of these traditions- actually all believe in One Supreme God.. the Christians have the trinity or 3 part God...simple compared to the Hindu and Buddhist traditions that descibe a much more complex and complete understanding of the Divine
different views or ways of describing the same God
i also think the misinterpretation lies with thinking God as seperate from you- there are many ways to see this, and many ways to define- 'God'
there is great truth in the contadiction, there is only One God, and you...everyone and everything is a part of this One God

Before the Bible, before Judaism there were other religions and other Gods, many other Gods, and Goddesses as well. I'm sure you know a little about Greek mythology. Many Gods, each with a different role to play. Jews and Muslims both worship the God of Abraham, a single God. Christians also say they worship the God of Abraham, but then they confuse the whole concept with Jesus and the Holy ghost and try to make Him a 3-in-1 God.
Most modern relgions may worship a single God, but that was not true with earlier religions. Many of them had multiple Gods and when Judaism was being formed, they only worshipped one. So if you wanted to be Jewish, you had to leave your other Gods behind.
Here's a website that lists all Major Gods and Goddesses:

There are as many Gods as you can imagine. But at the same time you are "god".Every thing and everybody is connected. The human form of a man called Jesus tried to teach us that "we" are the divine. Unfortunately "religion" dictates that we are nothing. Religion was created by the rich in order to keep the poor in line. Look at all scriptures from around the world wit an open mind and you will see what I mean.
PEACE and LOVE Be with you :):):)

The Bible says that some people make a god out of their stomachs. Anything that replaces God in your life becomes a god. An idol is a piece of wood, but how many people have you seen put fruit in front of a statue, bow to a statue, or rub a statue as if it had divine power? God is jealous of that, as He should be. Imagine creating an amazing creature with which you hope to have a relationship, only to have them call tree stumps God? Sheesh. There is one God, and one only. Read Isaiah 45.

when it says u should have any other gods than the god, it just means exactly wat it says. its not necessarily that the God in question is a jealous one, just one that wants everything under control so nothing bad happens, but those bad things r a bit numerous to name.
and when u ask if there r many gods, or just the same god but different views of the same god, its a bit of a trouble to answer. in different religions, u dont always have the same belief, right? like, there is monotheism and polytheism, the belief in one single god and the belief in many different ones. the egyptians used to worship many different gods, like Ra, Isis, Amon, and a lot of other ones.
but then again, u get to Judaism (i think thats how u spell it), Christianity, Catholosism (not sure if thats how u spell that), and some other religions. they believe in one single god, right? but i think i remember that 1 oe 2 of them believes Jesus Christ being god and the other 1 or 2 believe that Jesus is the son of God. did that make sense?
well, it depends on the religion(s) ur thinking of. and i hope i answered ur last question in a way that u could understand...

Christianity, Islam and Judaism only recognise one God, yes.
And their God is a jealous God, yes.
Now, why would He be a jealous God?
Good question!
The obvious answer is that these people only recognise the *authority* of one God, and any other God simply has no authority in their religion.
Of course, Zoroastrians believe that all Gods are the same God, and Zoroastrianism influenced Judaism.

India has thousands of 'gods'. They worship just about everything. The people of ancient times worshiped idols, because they thought that somehow a 'spirit' would enter into a rock or piece of wood that was shaped to look like a 'god'.
Today, man worships different gods all the time. He doesn't necessarily bow down to them, but he is totally absorbed and devoted to them whenever he is fanatical about something. Some of the gods of today are money, sports, material possessions, tv, video games, family, sex, drugs, etc.
But there is only one true God.

People have worshiped as many gods as they can imagine. Sun god, god of the underworld, God of necessary violence, Ammun the king of all gods. The list goes on and on. Although in this modern era. I would say that Allah and God are the same. Just my opinion though.

Last time I checked, there was none but everyone is fighting over one. The only God I know is the one I see in the mirror because that is where it all starts. Everything is your interpretation.
