Say there is an Enlisted person in a maintenance career field or special ops, or pretty much any other field, and that person becomes an officer, what career fields are open to officers then? Can they do more of the similar like of work? Can they be involved with maintenance or special ops again?

They can stay in their field if that is what they and the AF want. My hubby has had several officers that were maintainers, then mustanged to officer and became maintenance officers. They will avoid sending them back to bases they had been at previously, at least for a while. I don't know about other career fields, but hubby loved MOs who were former enlisted because they truly know how aircraft maintenance runs and they had lot more respect for the guys who were out there busting their fannies fixing the planes.

If you enlisted for four years, you can't "upgrade" your contract. Enlistment extensions are only granted for specific service needs. You cannot enlist for 6 years and then get out after 4. If you have sufficient credits to be accepted at a university as a junior, you can join the 2-year ROTC program.
