I need a memory stick for my school project but I dont have any money to buy a one. All I have is just a bunch of used burned CD's. Could someone please explain to me how to clear out a CD of it's contents? I really need an answer as soon as possible because my project is due in a few days.

Please and thank you!

Regular CDs are permanent. Sorry. The info is "burnt" into the disc, and there is no way to change it.

Now, if you have CD-RWs, those you can erase and rewrite on. But you would know, they are more expensive and have "CD-RW" written on them.

BTW, you can get memory sticks for $5 to $15 easily. 256 or 512mb, but it is cheap.

You can try formatting the CDs - that will erase all files, but if they are CD/R instead of CD/RW, you will not be able to copy files to them. My burners state that in order to use a CD like a floppy, you have to use CD/RWs and they must first be formatted by the software that powers the burner.

There really is no way to clear out a CD.

The best thing to do is to E-mail your work to your teacher.
